Stick-figure artists will HATE this! 😠
Machine learning isn't just about making programs more efficient. 🤨

The team behind the Kapwing (the modern meme maker) just launched Cartoonify, a magic algorithm that cartoonifies a photo into a drawing that any stick-figure artist would be proud of. Try it out.

This isn't the only AI-powered tool built for creatives:

📝 The AI built into Google's Quick Draw will try to guess what you're drawing in real-time. It's scarily accurate.

👀 Use with caution: you can now clone anybody's voice (to make them say anything). It's like Photoshop, but for audio.

🎨 Google's Arts & Culture app will find your doppelganger from tens of thousands of famous paintings using just a selfie.

😂 Your SO will LOL at this: AI for generating only the best memes.

While many of these tools are completely silly, they’re a good illustration (pun intended) of the future of art and tech’s influence on culture. When will AI create the first billboard top 100 hit?  Will CGI models replace real models (we’re already seeing a trend toward digital celebrities)? The future is weird.

Dive deeper: Justin at Algorithmia curated the 15 Most Creative AIs too. 🤖
You have one unread message 👀

Once upon a time, Twitter didn’t have DMs.

It was a simple tool to broadcast your breakfast choices to the world, but there was no way to discuss your avocado toast choices in private. Naturally, as the community grew and people started to form real relationships, there was strong demand to chat in private.

Twitter mirrored every other large social network. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, reddit and most community platforms make messaging a core part of the product. People want to communicate with friends.

Today, we’re introducing Chat to make it easy for the Product Hunt community to connect outside the public comment section.

While simple, it's quite robust. You can start a:

🔒 Private 1-on-1 chat. Message a friend, move a public conversation to private, or talk with the maker of a product directly.

🤐 Private group chat. Bring together your best side-project buddies and friends to problem-solve together.

🤗 Public group chat. Makers, use this to start a conversation with your users or beta testers. We designed this to be lightweight and easier to jump into than Slack and other heavier messaging apps.

It’s often said that every social network eventually adds messaging… well, now you can include Product Hunt on that list. Give it a shot. 😅

Is this the next iPad? 👀
Our favorite technologies are becoming more accessible. Years ago, stationary desktops were quickly replaced by plastic white MacBooks that took over college campuses and offices around the world.

Then came the iPad in 2010, and sleek devices replaced our beloved MacBook with data connections, Angry Birds, and an entire suite of productivity tools. Tim Cook famously runs Apple on the road from an iPad Pro and his iPhone. 🤯

HP just launched a new laptop-hybrid blend, the ENVY x2, as the next step in our never-ending march towards our phones:

😮 Insanely light, with the same touchscreen glass as your iPhone.
🔋 22 hour battery life. Yes, you read that correctly.
📡 4G LTE coverage, so no more awkwardly asking for the Wifi password.

It actually runs on the same Qualcomm chip that powers every flagship Android phone on the market today. Neato. Get yours today.

How to add Stories to your site like Zuckerberg ✨
A year ago, we hit peak Stories. Insta took "inspiration" from Snap and Zuck started rolling Stories into every Facebook app. People theorized that Microsoft was going to add Stories to Excel. Wild times.

Creative makers took notice. On April 1st, a few long-time Product Hunt community members shared their latest creation...

"For a few years now Mike and I have been dreaming of this day. We've seen the trends, we've watched from the sidelines, always waiting for the right moment for our big release. Today, for no specific calendar related reason, we're launching Stories as a Service (SaaS for short)."

Stories as a Service made it easy to add Stories to your website with just one line of code. BUT, it wasn't real. 🙈

Fast forward to today, a new maker from Paris emerges to carry the Stories torch. This time, it's not a joke.

Try Cereals makes it super easy to create stories in your browser. It's actually quite brilliant. Use it to summarize the news (like our app, Sip), create a tutorial for new site visitors, or simply tell stories.

Give it a try and share your stories in the Product Hunt discussion. 😊

Build an app, no code required 🤓
Everyone has a startup idea but not everyone can build it. Learning to code takes time and even if you’re a programmer, coding sometimes isn’t the most efficient way to get started.

Fun fact: Product Hunt started as an email newsletter, built in 20 minutes with no code. Here's a list of tools build your next idea, no code required:

Marvel for Keynote helps you turn your slides into interactive prototypes. Perfect for getting some design feedback, or showing off to customers.

🖥️ Mason is the world's first frontend-as-a-service platform. Mason lets you build everything about your front-end with an easy drag-and-drop interface, and seamlessly connect it to your backend.

📝 Carrd is a powerful single-page website generator, built by loved community member AJ.

🤖 Lobe allows you to build machine learning models with a visual interface. Teach your model to understand handwriting, emotions, music, and more.

📊 Sheetbase lets you build a website or app, powered by Google Sheets. Business model on one sheet, website on the other. You could build the next big thing with nothing more than a Chromebook.

What's your favorite no-code tool? Let us know. 🤗
Coinbase CEO launched a crypto charity 💰
"When I first read the Satoshi Nakamoto white paper for bitcoin, I realized it represented an opportunity to bring economic freedom to people all over the world." - Brian Armstrong

Nearly half the world's population lives in poverty, according to UNICEF, and 1.3 billion people live on less than $1.25 per day. Giving to charity isn't easy, so we put together a list of 12 Apps To Help You Give Back:

💸 GiveCrypto.org, founded by Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong, is a fund that aims to reduce poverty in the world by donating crypto to areas in need.  Cryptocurrencies make it easy to move money internationally, so your donations can get to the people who need it the most. You can donate to the fund, and help them meet their $10 million goal.

🖥️ Donate Your Tab lets you mine crypto in your browser and donate your proceeds to charity. All your time on Twitter and Netflix will pay off.

📦 Charity Box forces you to donate something every month by charging your card when you miss the donation deadline. You can even donate clothes, food, electronics, and toys.

📈 Effective Altruism Fund is like a mutual fund, but for charitable giving. Expert fund managers put in hundreds of hours of research and analysis to decide where your money should go for maximum impact.

"The world isn't ready for this kind of progress"
"Segway's track record of building 'so-sexy-you-have-to-fight-off-the-admirers' personal mobility vehicles continues unabated." – Dan K

"The world just isn’t ready for this kind of progress." – Ryan G

We'll be the first to admit that the NEW Segway Drift W1's look a bit dorky. They're a little like motor-powered Heelys, those sneakers with wheels in the heel that exploded in 2008.

It's silly to ignore Segway and their never-ending quest to solve personal mobility and the "last-mile-problem." Segway was acquired by Beijing-based transportation robotics startup Ninebot in 2015, which raised $180M from Sequoia Capital, Xiaomi, Intel, and more.

Fun fact: The Segway-Ninebot amalgam designs and manufactures every scooter used by scooter-sharing startups Bird and Lime. Both startups have exploded in popularity across the US, each raising $350M+ to bring dockless electric scooters to a sidewalk near you. Segway is everywhere.

Everybody is trying to improve short-distance travel. The world's first flying car launched two weeks ago with a review from Casey Neistat, and Elon Musk's Boring Company wants to build tunnels that criss-cross cities to cut down community time. The city of Chicago just signed a $1B contract with the company. 🕳️

If you're intimidated by Segway's latest creation, Paris-based Flaneurz are clip-on rollerskates that attach to any pair of sneakers. Give them a try. 👟🔥
Amazon’s latest $1 BILLION acquisition 💊
Amazon had a MASSIVE day yesterday.

First, they announced the acquisition of an online pharmacy for a cool billion dollars. Boston-based Pillpack delivers organized packages for your prescriptions in a nifty container.

Walgreens CEO Stefano Pessina was "coincidentally" speaking with Wall St analysts when the acquisition was announced. When asked if he was concerned: "Pharmacy is much more complex than just delivering certain pills."

Walgreens stock immediately tanked 10%, Rite Aid tanked 16%, and CVS followed suit at 9%. Not a good sign. 🙄

This isn't Jeff Bezos's first move into healthcare: Amazon recently announced a multi-billion dollar partnership with JPMorgan Chase and Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway to cut out middlemen for their combined 1,000,000 employees who are insured by one of the three giants or their subsidiaries.

That's not all: Amazon also launched Amazon Logistics, a last-mile delivery program to let anyone deliver packages (and get paid) to officially compete with UPS and FedEx.

It's not a terribly surprising announcement: Fedex operates similarly, with each delivery truck owned and operated by independent contractors.

The big question: When will Amazon roll out their drone delivery in mass?
RIP Web Apps ⚰️
Web apps are sooooo 2016.

Now you can turn your favorite web apps into desktop apps for Mac, Windows, and GNU/Linux with Web2Desk.

Launched yesterday with 600+ upvotes, it supports Intercom, Grammarly, Telegram, Twitter, Asana, Airtable, and really anything else. Try it today.

Web2Desk isn't the only tool that Apple should have built years ago:

🎩 Alfred: Will make you never use your mouse again. Alfred user, David, says: "Alfred is the bee's knees.. the cat's pajamas.. understand? Download it. Get the Powerpack. Do it. Do it now."

⚡️ aText: It's like text-replacement, but super easy to modify, with the ability to add custom fields. Accelerate your typing.

🖥 Magnet & BetterSnapTool: Use keyboard shortcuts to move/resize windows around the screen. Both of these are amazing.

⌨ Keyboard Maestro: Conduct your Mac like a pro. Arun says: "Keyboard Maestro is crazy awesome. I have been using for an year now for a ton of automation and hotkeys."

🚀 Rocket will insert Slack-style emojis everywhere. This is the most essential app you will ever download.
