Our ultra-fast Daily: Three takes on new products. Yesterday’s top ten launches. That’s it.

Invest in million dollar art

Today’s Daily Digest was crafted by us and sponsored by our friends at Masterworks.

There is more than one way to invest your money these days: stocks, real estate, crypto, sneakers. But, New York fintech startup Masterworks wants you to think about another kind of investing: blue-chip artwork.

No longer a commodity for the ultra-rich, Masterwork wants to democratize art investments by having users invest in history. Although this might not seem like traditional investing, their team just posted a jaw-dropping 32% annualized return to their investors (net of fees).

Launched in 2017, Masterworks is the first art investment platform that lets you to invest in iconic, multi-million dollar artwork. Blue-chip art is one of the oldest and largest asset classes, and has outperformed the S&P by over 180% from 2000-2018. Masterworks’ unique platform makes trading shares in masterpieces (Banksy and Kaws to name a few) as easy as trading stocks.

With the global art market projected to grow from $1.7T to $2.6T over the next six years, the opportunity to use technology to give access to everyone—not just the ultra-wealthy—is massive.

Having helped over 100,000 registered investors gain access to top-tier art investments, Masterworks is pleased to announce that Product Hunt subscribers can skip their 25,000 waitlist (conditions apply).

Let them eat IPOats

This week everyone is talking about IPOs with both DoorDash and Airbnb debuting this week.

As the largest restaurant delivery provider in the U.S. DoorDash has beaten off stiff competition from rivals like UberEats and Postmates, in the battle of the delivery giants.

Airbnb is the other highly anticipated IPO as financial analysts mull over its future in the era of COVID and government regulations. Regardless, Airbnb has always been a source of inspiration for community members, and even has its own dedicated topic.

Tis’ the season of Tech IPOs as C3.ai (enterprise AI) will also debut, with Wish (e-commerce) following next week. We’ve also heard rumblings that Affirm (buy now, pay later) and Roblox (gaming) are also poised to go public, with dates unconfirmed.

What will we be investing in? Cereal. IPOats by Public.com is giving away 500 boxes of very real cereal to celebrate Airbnb going public. They’re inspired by the scrappy story of Airbnb’s early days as a startup; Airbnb sold novelty cereal boxes to pay down their credit card debt (so we’re told).

“They culture-jacked the presidential election that year by selling novelty cereal boxes (Obama O’s and Cap’n McCains) for $40/ea. The boxes flew off the digital shelves and the team was able to turn a $30K in profit in a matter of days.” - Katie Perry, VP Marketing at Public.com

If you want some tech-inspired cereal as part of your balanced breakfast, you can enter to win a limited edition box. 🥣
Reddit meets MTV

If your 2020 Wrapped by Spotify is starting to look a little predictable, Wacht.tv can help you find new music outside of your bubble.

Wacht.tv is a music video discovery platform that encourages users to explore different genres of music on a whim. Giving us serious Reddit vibes, this product provides users with an infinite scroll of music videos to interact with.

“Finding good music videos these days is kinda like playing whack a mole, you randomly start clicking around and if your lucky you find something good. I wanted to reduce the randomness by creating a dedicated space for one of my favorite types of video content.” - Joel Loyol, Maker.

Users can filter by genre, release date, and format, or allow a happy coincidence to happen by landing on a random video. It’s the kind of music rabbit hole we can get behind.

While you're on your musical quest, perhaps you'll consider investing in the AirPod Max - Apple's new over the ear headphones. 👀

For further musical inspiration, check out these recent launches to help spice up your playlists:

Japanify.io lets users discover new Japanese artists and music in Spotify.

Good vibes only ✌️

We love Twitter. It’s a great platform to meet new people, share updates, learn from others, get feedback, and have fun. We even have a whole topic dedicated to it. We don’t love Twitter trolls.

Moderate launched in beta this weekend using AI to tackle this issue. It allows users to block problematic Twitter accounts, while also recognizing and tagging patterns of good or bad behavior using AI. The intention is for users to prioritize what content they enjoy while weeding out possible indicators of online harassment.

“We take and analyse your mentions using close to 10 AI models and identify accounts that are automated, use toxic language, share fake news articles etc. and highlight them in a moderation queue which allows you to mute or block them on Twitter.” - Ali Tehrani, cofounder

Users can request an invite to the beta below. Makers Ali and Mark have been whitelisting Product Hunt users over the weekend.

If you're waiting to get on the list and want a troll free zone on social to tide you through, vibes.fyi exists exactly for this reason. Drop a note of positivity, and bask in the good vibes.

Chill poolside with your team ⛱️

As the holiday season hits, many teams (including ours) are looking for alternatives to IRL end of year retreats, with many taking office parties into a virtual setting. SpatialChat 2.0 and Toucan, both launched this week, could be fun alternatives to a regular Zoom call.

SpatialChat 2.0 is a virtual space for events and teams. Originally launched in April, the makers offered a Zoom alternative for teams of up to 50 to socialize in more interactive spaces. Fast forward to yesterday, they launched version 2.0 which will allow users to host events for thousands of attendees, multi-room spaces, and the ability to host more intimate hangs by a virtual pool or bar.

Focusing on smaller scale conversations, Toucan lets users form their own groups and move freely from conversation to conversation. The co-founders wanted to make gatherings more natural by giving users the power to join any conversation in a room without awkwardly sitting through a whole Zoom call.

If you’re in the midst of planning your virtual holiday party, here are some additional options to help avoid the dreaded Zoom fatigue:

Famera Beta takes users on a surreal journey in magical space - say goodbye to boring video chats.

Flinkit! allows users to host team building games with crafty storylines, visual tasks, and riddles.

Social hour wants to bring back casual, small-group conversations as users ‘move’ around virtual tables.

Nicebreak is like Airbnb experiences for teams.

Banger.Digital can help users throw online parties and happy hours in an 8-Bit mansion.

Salesforce's $28B bet on Slack

Meet the power couple of 2020: Salesforce and Slack.

Salesforce announced end of day yesterday their deal to buy Slack for a whopping $27.7B. You might have heard rumblings of this news last week, with many tech bloggers predicting the union months ago. Slack will now become the new interface for Salesforce Customer 360.

“Together, Salesforce and Slack will shape the future of enterprise software and transform the way everyone works in the all-digital, work-from-anywhere world.” - Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO, Salesforce

Most of this excitement stems from the idea that Slack will be a worthy contender to Microsoft Teams as a communication product. For Salesforce, this seems like a natural move as a key player in the enterprise collaboration space, as adding Slack would make their suite more robust in the face of giants like Google Workspace and Microsoft.

Slack has undergone quite a few massive changes since its release in 2013. In 2018 they acquired their competitor HipChat and this year underwent their biggest redesign. With the Salesforce acquisition, we are wondering what new features will pop up in the future.

Our burning question: will we inherit a new suite of slackmojis to match the Salesforce characters? Product Hunt out here asking the real questions.

To see the impact of Slack in our community, check out all the Slack inspired products that have been released over the years.

OG Myspace is back 👥

As the OG of social media, Myspace elicits nostalgia for that simpler time on the internet when Myspace Tom was everyones first virtual friend. If you’re keen to relive the memories, 18-year old An created SpaceHey.

SpaceHey is a fully functional Myspace-like site where users can have fun, meet friends, or be creative. From its blue and white exterior, to the “I built this using HTML” vibes, SpaceHey feels like a living time capsule.

Now, if you’re doing the math, 18-year old An did not have a Myspace account when he was 3.

“I found a couple of other websites from that era of the internet and I really love the feeling of the Web back then. There is no comparable place to Myspace online nowadays, so that's why I built SpaceHey!” - An, Maker.

2020 has been A YEAR, and sometimes it’s nice to kick back and have some fun with a little nostalgia. We caught major feels with this one, and we were't the only ones. Here are some community reactions from An's launch day post:

“This certainly brings back lots of memories, thank you for building it!” - Steven

“All tears here thinking back to how beautiful the internet was back in the early 2000s.” - Simon

“I feel emotional when I look at this site. It was the first community I joined back then.” - Fajar

If this product took you on a trip down memory lane, make sure to check out Retro Widget and Retro Widget 2 which blasts users back to the 2000s using their iPhone and Apple Watch. Snake 2 anyone?

From startup to 🦄

Today’s Daily Digest was crafted by us and sponsored by our friends at Zendesk for Startups.

From startup to unicorn, Zendesk’s journey hits all the notes. With first-hand knowledge of what it takes to put customers first whilst operating lean to gain traction, this Cyber Monday the team at Zendesk for Startups are extending an offer to the Product Hunt community to help you do the same

The challenge:

It can be challenging for startups to build a customer support function from the ground up, especially because time and resources are limited for young companies.

The solution:

Included in this package is access to Sell. Sell launched on Product Hunt 2 years ago marking its first step in Zendesk's plan to introduce technology for sales among its suite of products. Along with Zendesk's more widely known customer support tools, this package includes:

• Exclusive access to a community of founders and partners
• Curated customer experience resources, office hours with Zendesk experts and events
• Try any number of Zendesk solutions to trial with 0 risk

With customers ranging from Uber and Airbnb to Calm and Limebike, Zendesk has helped hyper-growth companies start-up and scale their customer support.

Zendesk products include Support, Guide, Chat and Talk options.
