Hey guys! I'm excited to share with you my free software tool that turns plain text into presentable slides in real time. I created Deckless because I got frustrated trying to present information in daily meetings without having to use awful presentation software that was overkill for what I needed to do. So I just created Deckless to magically turn text into presentations in real time as I typed it out. Deckless isn't for everyone.  It's not a design tool. If you need to carefully craft a design, stay away. It's more of a way for people to turn notes and text into a presentation, without the design (which is 90% of the use case for me).

It would be nice to have an option to create a presentation from bookmarked websites or posts (I usually use them as references) :D

Darren Kim

@busmark_w_nika That's a great idea. Since it's all plain text markdown, it would be easier to integrate AI with a one button push all feature to generate notes and slides from a post or website.

Nika

@darrenk Will there be an update? :D

Darren Kim

@busmark_w_nika It's only been one day, working on it :)

This looks awesome! Can you export the slides to PowerPoint or PDF?

Darren Kim

@abod_rehman Thank you! Not yet but definitely on the roadmap.

Roozbeh Firoozmand

Loved that idea. Does it support exporting to PDF or sharing live links?

Darren Kim

@roozbehfirouz No exporting yet, but on the roadmap. It does allow you to share live links though where any updates are sync'd live in real time. I often use this myself for podcast production so I can 'broadcast' my podcast notes as full screen slides on a separate screen for everyone to see and control it from my end.

Cool concept! There’ve been quite a few tools in this space, so I’m curious how you’ll make Deckless stand out... but love that you’re tackling the “too much design, not enough content” problem. Keep at it and a good start!

Darren Kim

@fabian_meier One thing that makes Deckless stand out is the fact that the content is separate from the design itself. It allows you to iterate on your slide's content as naturally as working on a word doc since it's just text. It's also LLM friendly without actually having any AI built into it because AI models naturally input and output in markdown.

That's the main feature I like.... that I can just copy and paste text if needed to update and present content for every day meetings. I can't do that easily with traditional presentation software since they are primarily design tools at the end of the day. That's why a lot of people end up using Notes or Docs to present basic bullet points for their meetings.

Interesting

This is brilliant! Love how it leans into speed and simplicity over design polish. Sometimes you just want to share your thinking without fiddling with slides, and this nails that use case perfectly.

Darren Kim

@ignasi_plaza Thank you! Yeah, that's 90% of my use case without having to deal with text boxes to fill and move around, I can keep everything to a single text file to modify or edit.

Denys

Nice one. I like it. Do you have some plans for export and API?

Darren Kim

@denys_kuzin1 Yes working on exporting features soon.  An API sounds like great idea if there is interest for it.  For example, I could see people wanting to automate basic slide creation/exporting through APIs since it's plain text markdown and LLM friendly.  In the future, I can see it working with node based automation tools such as n8n or its own AI MCP server.

Denys

@darrenk mcp also sounds good. I would vote for this one, it will give possibility to create presentations directly from Claude, VS code etc

Sneh Shah

The ability to turn markdown directly into slides is such a win for fast-paced teams. I often reference web posts; would it be possible to import links/bookmarks as slide content? Roadmap for that?

Darren Kim

@sneh_shah Hey that's a great idea. I could see myself using that a lot too, dropping in a website or url that could be displayed in the slide as reference. I'll definitely add this to our roadmap, perhaps sooner than later.

I love how Deckless skips the overkill of traditional presentation tools and just gets to the point. 👏 It honestly feels like the Notion of quick presentations. Can it handle Markdown or text formatting (like bold or bullet lists) while generating slides?
