What are the 5 tools you simply couldn't do your work without?

This could be related to your industry, or even a side project you're working on.

Here are my 5 (I couldn't function without them):

  1. Grammarly proofreading my texts, not just posts, but also client communication

  2. ChatGPT / Claude mostly brainstorming, help with copy, and summarising

  3. Figma I can put the basic graphics together quickly.

  4. Translator sounds incredibly old-school, but English is not my mother tongue

  5. Gmail and not only for communication, but also for storing ideas and sending myself email reminders for posts

How do you get back into β€œwork mode” after holidays or a sabbatical?

Honestly, I sometimes feel a bit of internal pressure or even fear that if I miss something, it will be hard to get back into work, especially because I m strongly embedded in tech.

And you can see it when you disconnect for 2 or 3 days and don t follow the news, you feel mentally better, but at the same time you start losing that sense of overview that feels quite important for your career.

Do users actually want simple products, or products that hide complexity well?

People always say they want simple products. Bloat is a big reason people dislike products and migrate away from existing tools. But I don't think that bloat comes from having too many features. Instead, it's mostly a UI/IA problem.

This is something we think about a lot at @Basedash. Analytics and BI can get complicated quickly: permissions, SQL, charts, dashboards, filters, joins, data sources, teams, sharing, alerts, and so on. We can t remove all of that complexity, because real teams eventually need it. Instead, we're trying to figure out how/when to reveal that complexity. Filters only appear if you ask the AI. Access controls can get super fine-grained, but only if you start inviting more teammates.
