We've been using Nitro for years for UI strings localization into 10 languages. Very handy tool and responsive team.

Congrats on launch! Why should I use Nitro instead of Google Translate?
Alexander Murauski
@kagan_korkmaz1 Well, because Google Translate is a machine, but Nitro has professional translators behind it. Nitro is a paid service, where translators are always online and ready to translate texts into their languages. Quality is the difference. You can attach an image, give a comment to our text, and a translator will take those into consideration while translating.
Margarita Shvetsova
@kagan_korkmaz1 hi Kağan, thank you! Good question! I can say it depends on what you need a translation for. If you just need to understand the general meaning of a text, Google Translate is fine. But if you want to translate your text for a global audience, for clients who will pay for your service/product - a machine translation won't quite work. The problem is that with a machine translation the quality is sometimes okay, but sometimes it's not acceptable. People don't feel like using a product (and paying for it!) if they have a hard time reading the content. Besides, while machine translation has been improving over the years, it's quality is not stable. I remember having an article translated from English into Turkish (by a native speaker) and running the finished translation to make sure nothing has been missed and that I don't have any questions. Funnily, Google translate gave me the opposite meaning of what it really said. The text was the following: "(İşte bu nedenle,) oyun geliştiricileri için yerelleştirme sürecini olabildiğince baş ağrıtmayan bir iş haline getirebilmek adına, (tasarım sürecinin en başından itibaren uygulanabilecek bir takım kurallar içeren bu listeyi hazırladık.)" - Google Translate says "...in order to make the localization process as a headache as possible for game developers". The Turkish version actually means “less troublesome as much as possible, less of a headache as much as possible” but Google translate is telling you the opposite! Sorry I was too carried away talking about the machine translation stuff. The point is, if you need reliable translations - you need human translations :) We in Nitro provide exactly that - human translations exclusively. And we've made sure it's a convenient process: many devs translate a text into multiple languages at a time (sometimes as many as 20-30 languages) - and we made it easy: you just need to tick off the required languages, and hit the "Send for translation button".

@margarita_s88 Thank you so much for this explanation. I understand you concern.

What’s the difference between Nitro and Smartcat?
Alexander Murauski
@alex_davidovich Not completely sure, but in SmartCAT you cannot simply paste your text and get it translated in 2 hours. You start with a question "What is the name of your company"... there. SmartCAT is feature-rich, professional translation management tool I could personally recommend (we use it at Alconost for some big localization projects). Nitro is for people who do not want to "manage files and projects", but rather think "get my text translated now, please" :) Hope this helps.
Natalia
Kudos on a great accomplishment, Nitro team! I like the video in the product description, great job! What I do like about the product which I have been using constantly is that I can leave comments for the translator, and they can reply. So we can have a kind of a thread attached to a task. I like when translators request clarifications, ask questions, or suggest a few options to translate a specific line, for me to choose from. One more thing that stands out for me is the level of involment of a human translator into your text and what you meant to transmit. This is what machines can't do for a moment (let me know if I'm wrong). Good luck!
Margarita Shvetsova
@natalia_est Hi Natalia, thank you very much for your support - a comment from a regular client means a lot! 🙌 I agree that ability to exchange comments with a translator is a very useful feature, often indispensable when the translator needs additional question. This feature saves time to resolve issues. We've only added it this year :) No, machine translation still has a long way to go to reach anywhere near a human level of involvement :)
Jenny Art
@natalia_est Natalia, thanks for highlighting the comment thread feature! We do believe that the client can influence the quality of the translation from their side by providing some additional clarifying information 🤓
Nishith from True Sparrow
@margarita_s88 congratulations on your launch! I like the proofreading service. It would be great to show how the difference between how a tool like Grammarly would do the proofreading vs an actual human.
Margarita Shvetsova
@nishith_shah thanks so much for your support, Nishith! 🙌 What a great idea! I'll think about how I can use it, an article or a video - but yeah, I think it will be very interesting, thank you for suggesting it :)
Arda Helvacılar
We tried more than 5 products for the localization needs of our projects however each and every one of them failed eventually. Nitro seems like the product that we have been looking for. So thank you and I wish you great luck!
Jenny Art
@helvacilar We'll be happy if you try out Nitro. We hope that it will meet your expectations! ☀️
Margarita Shvetsova
@helvacilar thank you for your comment, Arda! I would be happy to chat and see what challenges you faced with previous localization solutions and whether we can equip you with what you need 😊 Thanks again and hope to talk soon!
Kartik Punnamaraju
Congrats on the launch! I don't have a use case yet, but just curious, does nitro work best with technical documentation as opposed to say literature/short stories?
Margarita Shvetsova
@kartik_punnamaraju Hi Kartik, thank you for your comment! To be honest, Nitro is more oriented towards IT products rather than literature & stories. It is possible to translate some very short stories there, but generally literary works require more time and more context, so we usually recommend to translate such content in our localization department. As for technical documentation, I think it depends both on the volume of text and its complexity. Again, if it requires a lot of additional context, it will make more sense to translate it in localization platforms as we do at our localization department where we handle large projects. Nitro's best advantage is translating relatively short-length content on the go, in a self-service mode (where you don't need a localization manager to send a text for translation). Hope this answers your question, and also hope you'll try Nitro some time ;)
Kartik Punnamaraju
@margarita_s88 Thanks for the detailed response!
Nick Zaleski
The API feature is interesting. I was wondering if you can help implement it?
Margarita Shvetsova
@nick_zaleski Sure, we can help with that, just contact us in the Nitro's chat. You may also want to check out the API documentation here: But if you have questions about it, our tech specialist will help.
Margarita Shvetsova
@nick_zaleski for some reason I can't add the right link, but you can also find the documentation here: https://alconost.com/en/nitro/api
