Many of you started using Vowel to host your video meetings, and provided valuable feedback on what it would take to switch from Zoom.

@andrew_berman I like the idea of live transcriptions. How many languages does this support?

@lenny_leemann Thanks, Lenny! I know I keep an eye on that in brainstorms and 1:1s... I have a tendency to dominate the conversation, so it's helpful to have that real-time feedback that helps me remember to make more space for others!
@lenny_leemann and here is a small tip 💡 if you feel stressed about talk times during the meeting, you can always turn them off and see the final talk times at the end of the meeting.

I tried out Vowel while it was in beta and it was awesome. (It's also one of the best at recognizing my accent and providing a clean transcript, so huge win there. ) I plan to use it for more of my meetings, and can't wait for all the new features coming.
@shurleyhall Thanks for the feedback Sharon. You're in the UK right? Did you change the language on the transcription to recognize your accent?

@andrew_berman I'm British and Caribbean, and mostly sound Trinidadian :) So Vowel really stands out as most transcription tools can't fully cope, but Vowel was pretty accurate.
@shurleyhall Thanks for the great feedback. With Vowel 1.0, we also launched further improvements to our transcription quality, and we continuously strive to make it even more accurate!
@andrew_berman@shurleyhall Oh, we recently added support for UK English, which could be even better! Go to your workspace settings to change your default transcription language (or you can change it in the Transcript tab of any individual meeting) and see how that goes.
Previously, we only supported US English, but we've added more languages and dialects.
I'd love to hear how this works for you.
Hey team. Congrats on the launch. Looking forward to the pricing. I'm interested in this product cos it avoids the platform risk of being dependent on Zoom or Meet. However, I'm wondering about the seamless cooperation of its features working together. I currently pay for a competitor that lets me make highlights that coincide with my notes. My notes become notated markers in my videos. It works cos I do alot of interviews. I just tried vowel and it appears that highlights are separate from notes. Lmk if I am missing the mark here. Great job. This is a hard problem to solve.

Love the idea of agenda timers and that transcription is offered in other languages as well. For remote teams who operate in more than one language, can multiple languages be used for the transcription or would you have to choose one?
@saba_b Thanks! You can set a default language for your team, but you can still override that setting and configure a different language for any given meeting. Please let us know if you have any questions!
@saba_b Great question, Saba! You can set the language for EACH meeting to be different if you like. Just hop over to the transcript tab in meeting and select the language you want to transcribe in.
But are you asking if you can transcribe in multiple languages within a single meeting? That's currently not possible, but I'd love to hear your use case if that's what you're looking for.
Love the live transcription feature & the ability to generate clips from the recordings.
