šŸƒ When was the last time you did some sport?

by•

I just walked out of the gym, and I feel ready to move mountains! =D

For a while, I gave up exercising. And yesterday, the bell rang when my teammate asked the whole team: When was the last time you did some sport?

It made me frustrated. I realized I’d been so busy that day by day, I’d been forgetting about it. And I could feel how directly that affected my productivity too.

In our team, we’re used to being very active. My co-founder is a two-time Ironman and a triathlon expert. We have running challenges, and everyone actively goes to the gym.

And there I was, feeling a little ashamed to realize that I hadn’t exercised for the last couple of weeks...

Do you also have these gaps when being busy pushes sports out of your routine?

And if you haven’t done any sport recently, take this as your little reminder to go move your body today =D

Because right now, I feel fantastic!

And honestly, taking care of yourself is also part of building a product, a company, and a business!

This is a fab reminder! It's super easy to get lost in what we're building (and all the things that come with that). Exercise is very important to me because of the physical and mental benefits. I work out every morning, weights or yoga, and if I have to get up earlier than normal to fit it in, then that's what I do! If I don't, I'm not as productive. So the way I see it, exercise is just part of my working day (or night).

Ā Thanks for sharing a comment that inspires through your own example! <3

Building a product can get so busy that we forget to take care of ourselves too a good reminder to keep some balance

Ā Glad it turned into a good reminder =)

Ā Haha true šŸ˜„ Building a product is a marathon and taking care of ourselves is part of the process too

Does a one-hour walk count as a sport?

To be honest, I went to yoga a week ago (a whole week!!! Oh my gosh...)

You’re absolutely right - and everyone knows it.

The power lies in the simple things:
drink water,
do sport,
eat right,
take care of your health,
learn,
spend time with those you love - and there you have it: happiness!

But often, these are the things we put off until later and get bogged down in our daily routines.

Ā Walk definitely counts as a sport =)

And you're right about all the points you've mentioned. We don't have to keep putting that off!

Today morning.

Abs workout and after calls with clients another one :D

Ā I admire your consistency in everything!

<3

Ā to be honest, lately, I am not that consistent with other things hahaha

Ā That's normal... our body and mind need a reset from time to time.

Great reminder! It’s so easy to let movement slip when you’re deep in building something, and the productivity dip is real. One thing that helps is treating a workout like a meeting: put it in the calendar and don’t move it.
Even a 20-minute walk counts! šŸ˜‰

Curious, , do you and the team have any small rituals to keep each other accountable, besides the running challenges? šŸƒ

Ā Yes!

In our team, we have great support for each other. In every situation, we know that each of us has people we can rely on.

Besides that, we always have conversations to help each other stay on track.

I think a lack of time is just an excuse (at least in my case).
I often say it's because I'm too busy but there are usually other reasons contributing to it.

What time do you think is best for working out to boost productivity?

Ā For me, it's 3–4 pm. In the evening, I love just walking, and in the morning, I love coffee and working =)

A two-time Ironman on the team, that's impressive! I know those gaps well. I work pretty much all day when I'm awake, so I lean on a standing desk and a stepper to keep moving while I work, and I have a road bike for cycling. Thanks for the reminder, Adana ā˜ŗļø

Ā Do you ever go on long bike rides?

And thanks for the stepper idea =) I'm taking it!

Ā Not long ones, honestly. I used to ride a mountain bike around town, and I got tired of road bikes passing me all the time. I'd always wanted to ride a road bike at least once in my life, so last December I found a used Pinarello that looked almost brand new. The previous owner clearly took great care of it. I love the design and rode it for about a month, but then work got really busy and it's been sitting there for about six months šŸ˜…

The stepper is getting plenty of use though. From what I'd read, cheap ones can't handle long sessions and get noisy, so I went with a Xiser. It wasn't cheap, but it's really comfortable and I think it'll last me a lifetime. Hope it works for you too!

Ā I don't ride a bicycle myself. I learned to ride one at the age of 27–28 =) But I'm still not confident.

But about the stepper, you said that the Xiser doesn't make any noise? I want to buy one, but if it's noisy, I won't use it.

Ā Yes, it's surprisingly quiet, and it's really stable too! And if you ever stop needing it, they sell for a good price on the used market, so I don't think you'd lose out.

I never managed to make sport part of my routine other then biking to and from work. And I don't feel great after going for a run, which is currently my preferred way of exercising.
The benefit weather its felt immediately or not is always there though. So it's important to do it even if your mind is continuously muttering that it wants to be done.

In summary, I would agree - go get moving - even if only sometimes - even if you don't like it. You will still feel better on average physically and mentally if you manage to do it.

Ā Our body is like a child who doesn't want to go to kindergarten every day =D

So we have to teach it, get angry with it, encourage it, convince it...

And soon it will obey us =)

I started playing football with my book club friends bi-weekly. I also go to gym 4x a week.

But, I only came to realize the importance of physical wellness when I saw my biological is 29 (I'm 23). Seems like you need some shock value to understand the importance of physical health. Most people do this mistake.

I realized it's time to focus on my body and lock in. Especially during times when shipping is easy and you tend to just go with the flow.

Ship fast & Lift hard :)

Ā That’s great! =) Have you loved football since you were young, or did you only recently start playing?
