When you launch a product on other platforms, do you use the same launch plan as you do on PH?
Several of you launch your products on multiple platforms that are alternatives to Product Hunt.
Do you proceed with preparation and promotion in the same way as when launching on PH, or do you have a slightly "chill" approach and take it less seriously?
What is the gap between launching on PH and launching on an alternative platform (+ where do you launch earlier?)
[I often come across people who take PH very seriously and are stricter on themselves, and at the same time ask themselves whether to launch on the same date on both platforms.]
My POV: I think it is better to launch on different dates with a sufficient time gap, e.g. 1 month, because it allows for better preparation, upvoters are not overwhelmed by multiple URL links, and for you it is more diverse content to promote over time, so it is scheduled/prepared reasonably.

I haven’t really explored the other platforms(I do not know them tbh), but I do share important milestones on my LinkedIn(at least I try to do so). I wouldn’t necessarily call that a ‘launch’ though — more like a regular update post.
Don't know if creating a facebook event could be a launch or treated the same as here.

@viktorgems No, social media is treated a little bit differently. Because I think that dedicated time to a "special platform launch" like Product Hunt should be communicated separately.

For me, it depends on the platform. Some of them I launched without any announcements at all, mostly because the communities there aren’t very active - so it’s more about getting backlinks.
On others, I plan to launch only after the Product Hunt launch, since that’s the main event and I want to keep the focus here :)

I agree with staggering launches 👍 PH works best as a focused moment, not something to bundle with everything else.
One thing I’ve noticed post-launch is that links from earlier announcements or campaigns can quietly break over time as you launch on more platforms.
That’s why tools like LinkFix.app, which just monitor links and alert when something breaks, have been helpful for maintaining momentum after PH.

It really depends on the platform, but the base is the same! But never tried in any PH competitors tbh 😂🙈
