This is a recurring topic here and I recently had many related discussions. So, I wanted to share with you three different stories, three different perspectives and approaches for inspiration.

TL,DR: IMHO There's no perfect day to launch. Just launch it.

Launching on a Monday for maximum exposure

attended AWS re:Invent last week with a series of announcements. They launched on Product Hunt , the first day of the conference for maximum exposure.

Launching on a weekend for less competition

, an open-source product, for developers, built by a solo maker, launched , less competitive than a week day according to . targets a technical audience and launched .

Launching after gaining traction on X

first launched on X, got some traction (3.5M+ impressions), and launched on Product Hunt , riding those tailwinds. also took this approach when they launched .

Final thoughts

Different launches, different timings.

So, when is the best day to launch? On a week day, on a weekend? On a Monday or a Tuesday?

In their launch guide, puts it simply:

The best day to launch is when you're ready.

Keep it simple. Launch, and keep launching.

Product Hunt is about consistency. It pays off in the long term.

I am hugely aligned what you write here. To be honest, if I really wanted that badge, I would go for weekends.

If I wanted challenge and huge traction – week days – esp. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

I find most people are active here on weekends based on my experience

 oh interesting! according to , it's the opposite. to quote their launch guide:

We tend to see larger companies launch (along with solo makers) on the weekdays since that follows normal business hours.

This was very helpful for PH newbie! We're working on something that we're looking to launch in Jan, and it's my first time launching on Product Hunt—interesting angle on "Launching after gaining traction on X" to create tailwinds. Going to explore this some more.

Very informative. I recently launched a solo project combining AI and Real Estate (PropTech Tool) on a Tuesday because that is what day I researched is the best. Did not get as much traction as I thought even though the product itself is extremely useful and educational at the same time. Will have to figure out ways to gain traction to engagement moving forward. Thank you for the share.

from my perspective, the key takeaway here is that the "best day to launch" really depends on your context. i'd suggest reading the story of how launched. TL,DR: we experimented with different launch days, and in their context, it worked best on a weekend - ranked #2 Product of the Day.
