Some software is naturally transactional people use it on Friday month ends, or during specific project sprints. But then they churn because they didn't get enough daily value.

If your product isn't a daily-active messaging or project board tool trying to force daily usage feels unnatural and forced. Yet, investors and metric dashboards always push for higher engagement frequency.

If your product isn't meant to be opened every single day, how do you engineer sticky loops or meaningful checkpoints so users don't forget you exist between use cases?

I realized I probably couldn't stay away from the internet for an entire day. :D

Partly because I want to keep my Product Hunt streak, but also because:

• I try to nurture my community and engage with them every day (essential for growing).

• I handle customer support daily.

• Missing important news from the tech world gives me FOMO.

Honestly, I sometimes feel a bit of internal pressure or even fear that if I miss something, it will be hard to get back into work, especially because I m strongly embedded in tech.

And you can see it when you disconnect for 2 or 3 days and don t follow the news, you feel mentally better, but at the same time you start losing that sense of overview that feels quite important for your career.

One thing I've been thinking about while building tooling for AI agents is that a budget and a cost estimate solve two very different problems.

A budget tells you what you're willing to spend. A prediction tells you what a task is likely to cost. Neither guarantees that the task will finish within that amount.

Summer months bring vacations, travel, more time spent outdoors, and less time for online or work-related activities.

Because of this, it s easy to forget to check Product Hunt and lose your streak.

Early on, I thought a comprehensive product tour was the ultimate sign of a polished SaaS. But watching new signups drop off before touching our core feature proved otherwise.

The hardest part was realizing that users don't want to be taught your product; they want to get their specific job done within 120 seconds. Every extra tooltip or features highlight we added was just creating friction.
