How not to lose Product Hunt streak during the summer

Summer months bring vacations, travel, more time spent outdoors, and less time for online or work-related activities.

Because of this, it’s easy to forget to check Product Hunt and lose your streak.

Here are a few preventive tips:

  • When working on your computer, keep Product Hunt open in a tab and refresh it regularly.

  • Set three times during the day to check it.

  • Keep the Product Hunt app installed on your phone just in case.

  • Add the Product Hunt widget to your phone.

  • Set a daily reminder at the same time, for example through email or Apple Reminders.

  • Support products with comments, upvotes, or participate in discussions. So you have proof you were on the website.

Do you have your own system?

Some people like us who dont travel and spend more time on computer in summer

that's usually me... this was a one-off event. I hate traveling.

 We are on same boat:)

Yes, it is also one of the ways how not to lose your daily streak :D

For me anytime I see you post has been a good reminder for me!

Wow, do you see my notifications?

yes, email notification as well as in app-notification whenever someone you follow posts

Great tips! Personally, I let it slip; I went on a nearly 3 week on-the-road vacation to California and kind of blew all my commitments. BUT I built an app a while back that I should have used to keep my streak going. I use it for everything else. I'm just dense :)

If you priorities app, it is also a good outcome :)

I have one simple rule: never leave Product Hunt without doing something meaningful.

Some days it's an upvote. Some days it's a thoughtful comment. Other days it's joining a discussion or congratulating a maker. That small habit keeps the streak alive, but more importantly, it keeps me connected to the community instead of just collecting a number.

Ironically, I've found the streak isn't what brings me back anymore. It's the people and the conversations.

I'm curious, Nika, have you ever lost a really long streak? If you did, was it painful... or strangely freeing? 😄

Haven't lost yet, but I probably would start over again :)

 🤜💥🤛

In my case, beyond the usual activity that I naturally have every day, I have to say that it is the notifications that eventually bring me back to participate in different activities relevant to the community.

Good to see another active member ;)

No system, and I think that is the point for me.

Reminders to check a site are a tax I stop paying by week three. Anything that needs its own alarm is competing with real work, and it loses.

What has held is attaching it to something I already do daily. I read about tooling in my space anyway. Doing that here instead of in a browser tab costs nothing extra, and the streak happens as a side effect rather than a chore.

The version that fails is treating the streak as the goal. Then you log in, refresh, leave, and you have protected a number without talking to anyone.

Ten minutes on one real conversation beats seven days of proof of presence.

Also joining the conversation like this can help to protec the streak too :)

For me, it's all about attaching it to my daily routine—like checking tech updates or dev news first thing in the morning. When it's built into a habit I already do every day, keeping the streak alive feels completely natural rather than like a chore!

For real, this is the place where you know about the latest tech. :)

The reminder problem isn't really mine. Once I'm on here I tend to go too deep into one thread and lose twenty minutes I didn't plan on. So my actual risk with the streak isn't forgetting, it's the opposite, showing up and not leaving. Would not have guessed that going in.

Wow, but 20 minutes is kind of a lot :D

fair, that did come out more dramatic than reality lol. more like ten minutes that felt like twenty because I got pulled into a good back and forth

I have recently started being active on PH, this will be much helpful for me

 Enjoy the tips! :)

Will be launching my product soon so this will be helpful to be honest

I love my iPhone app reminders. Nothing else can better prevent the streak break 🤣

But you can have many reminders and it can happen that you lose your count. :D
