I use giphy capture, ( https://giphy.com/apps/giphycapture ) and it's pretty ace, but it does have some limitations. Would be interested to know if y'all have some favourites. Ideally it creates high quality gifs, has trim functionality (length), crop (aspect ratio), file size (small or large), and converts to different file types (mp4 / gif / mov). Also, just testing this product hunt thing. Seems legit 😎 . Thanks for the invite!
- CloudApp is the BEST! You can crop, record whatever you want up to 15 seconds, everything you "film" gets saved to the cloud, and all the gifs (and screenshots, videos, etc) you create can quickly + easily be downloaded or shared. I can't imagine using anything else anymore.I use cloudapp. +1 on everything Kate said. It's just great. In combination with cloudapp I also use ezgif.com to make edits / optimize. I found their optimization tools to be the most useful. You can get really specific about what you want. Even down to the level of deleting individual frames.
- Licecap is great if you are writing something up and putting a gif of a screencast
