Building a web application to help users build, analyze, and optimize resumes

by

Hey everyone,

I've been working on Resume Forge — a tool that takes the guesswork out of tailoring your resume to job postings.

Here's how it works:

  1. Paste a job description — The AI extracts everything: required skills, experience level, responsibilities, salary range, education requirements.

  2. Build your resume — Full-featured AI resume editor with sections for experience, education, skills, certifications, projects, and languages. Exports to a clean, ATS-friendly PDFs

  3. Get a match score — The AI analyzes your resume against the parsed job and gives you:

  - An overall compatibility score

  - A skill gap breakdown (missing critical skills vs. nice-to-haves vs. what you already match)

  - A radar chart across 5 dimensions: Technical Skills, Soft Skills, Experience, Education, and Domain Knowledge

  - Your experience entries mapped to each job responsibility (strong match / weak match / not found)

  - Specific, actionable improvements you can make

You can also compare multiple resumes against the same job to see which version scores higher.

  4. AI Resume Reviewer — A chat-based assistant built into the editor. Ask it things like "rewrite my summary to be more impactful" or "what skills should I add for this role?" and it'll suggest edits you can apply with one click.

  5. Job Application Tracker — Track every application from NOT_APPLIED through SCREENING → INTERVIEWING → OFFER all in one place.

Would love any feedback. What features would make this more useful for your job search?
