... with airtime measured in fractions of an hour. Which may be why she had to "be there in 2 minutes", or else paddle to her destination. I get the feeling that everyone in this video has a Juicero in their kitchens and blood test results from Theranos. Just sayin'.

@prayersparkmd Ha. Yeah, looks like the boat would have been a lot faster. Also, good thing nobody got clipped in the head by a rotor.

@prayersparkmd Was expecting flying car. Got hovering water scooter.
Doc Daniel
@joshuapinter I was thinking the same thing. The propellers on my DJI Phantom 3 could put your eye out in a flash. The props on the Kitty Hawk look like they could take your head off.

@prayersparkmd lol my thoughts exactly...but hey they've got money to burn...but they might burn more with the lawsuits that come from this should it actually go to market...hihgly unlikely though

Best name ever. We've been fantasying about flying cars since before Jetsons although I question the practicality (at least anytime soon for regular consumers). More details on The Verge.

@rrhoover welcome to the future!

@rrhoover Wright Brothers + Kitty (take my money right meow!) + Hawks!!!! The name alone makes me love this company.
Sergio Flores
@rrhoover when I saw the chrome notification saying "flying car" I wasn't expected this.

@_sklahr_ @rrhoover agree. with all due respect, this is merely a rich kids toy. This won't be "flying" 60mph over other terrain other than water
André J
@rrhoover You know this thing will take your head right?

The concept is kinda cool. The advert was the worst thing I've ever seen.
João Antunes
@nicksmithr the advert was pretty bad indeed, it almost made me feel nauseous
Joshua Pinter
@joantune @nicksmithr It's just a giant drone with buoys. Nothing revolutionary here.
Paul McClean
@joantune @nicksmithr nauseous, eh?
Nasir Shadravan
Pretty cool product for the rich kids!

Despite being an impressive product from an engineering standpoint, the marketing is reminiscent of the dorky, out of touch Google Glass campaign. From calling it Kitty Hawk (which implies it's a significant breakthrough not just another fun toy for rich) to the poorly acted and directed promo video. Some things money just can't seem to buy :) Reminds me of the awesome videos telling us all how to throw a Windows 7 party:
P.S. Can we please not call this a 'flying car', just because they want to brand it as such? It's not. It's more of a hover jetski.
Doc Daniel
@scott_kennedy This Win7 promo makes me uncomfortable. I'm itchy.
Evan Kimbrell
@scott_kennedy I can't believe that video exists. And its not a parody

I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of what a car is with this product.

That looks fun, but a "flying car" is a car that flies. I would describe this as a ridable quadcopter with floats. You can get to a fun dock-side gathering with your friends, but you can't get to work. Unless work is on the other side of a bay.

I'm not sure if it is the product or the video production, but I can't watch this with a straight face. It basically has all the comedic content of a great Google April Fools Day product. It appears to be slower than the boat it is following and get's about as high off the water as a skilled wakeboarder. It has a long way to go to use the term "Flying Car", for now, it should stick with "Fun Water Toy".

With drone laws getting stricter, I hope I can still get my flying license! I think this would make me fail my exam! 🙈👇
Dan Flanegan
It was only a matter of time before the drones got big enough to carry people :-)
