eesel - All your work in one place

eesel is a Chrome extension that brings all your work from different tools into one place. It's based on browser history, so it automatically works with pretty much any tool. In fact, eesel runs entirely on your browser, so your work stays secure and never leaves your computer.

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Julien, and I built eesel with @amoghito and @salper. If you're anything like us, you probably get to work with a lot of documents: from project briefs in Google Docs, planning in Notion, issues in Github to designs in Figma, and so on. Things can get real messy, real fast. We tried to bring in more organised folders on GDrive but that was hard to maintain. We tried to standardise tooling but that just didn't feel right. People like to experiment with new tools and they might actually find something that works better for everyone. We tried a few API based integrations to bring together our work documents but these tools only worked with a handful of products and all required some scary access to our data. That's when we took our pen and notepads, did a bit of field research, and realised 2 things: - Most of our work happens on the browser - We pretty much always just need to access docs we've already seen before So we decided to build eesel, a super simple way to "filter" your browser history to only show stuff relevant for work. There's no need to create an account, grant scary permissions or even manually connect tools. eesel just works right after install. eesel automatically saves the pages relevant for your work, makes the titles and content searchable, and keeps things totally local and secure. We have many more ideas for eesel, and we'd love to get your feedback! Cheers, Amogh, Stefen, and Julien

@amoghito @salper @zmiro Congrats on the launch, this looks very useful, do you plan to make extension for safari as well?
Julien Zmiro
Thanks @onmyway133 ! Yes, we're planning to work on a Safari and a Firefox version. We'll definitely post it there when that happens!

@amoghito @salper @zmiro Looks like a great product! Trying to set up eesel on Brave, but I get stuck on "eesel is being set up", any fix or is it just something with Brave?
Julien Zmiro
Hey @zayyan_faizal ! eesel should work on Brave (actually I just tried with a fresh install and it worked). But a few people got stuck in the onboarding regardless of their browser. We just released a fix but we need to wait for Google to approve the changes (it might take a few days unfortunately). I'll ping you as soon as it's there! Really sorry about that!

@amoghito @salper @zmiro @zayyan_faizal works for me on Brave!

This is great! I've just shared it with a community of 20K people who love professional tools like this one. You might see this traction from Israel :) Loved the way you reduced the onboarding friction - quite amazing. Good luck!
Julien Zmiro
Thank you so much @ron_kimhi ! That's really appreciated!
Tem Nugmanov
@ron_kimhi what is that community?! would love to join 🙌
Ron Kimhi
@temirlan Sure, it called Supertools, this is the English FB group 2K pips- https://www.facebook.com/groups/... I've shared it with the Hebrew speaking one - about 20K people.

@zmiro BTW, a small feedback, I would create a short explanation GIF that emphasis a couple of things; 1. Privacy - 100% local 2. Seamless - no need to provide access to any of ones web accounts 3. Provide a glimpse to the main user flow - although the 2 min video is great, it might be a bit longish for some users :) Love it so far
Julien Zmiro
@ron_kimhi That makes a lot of sense thank you so much for sharing that!

Amazing work! It's so awesome to see this live and out in public. Really useful for someone like me who basically lives in thousands of docs. Looking forward to saving a lot of time from not having to search for them! 🤩
Julien Zmiro
Thanks a lot @jcolman ! Let us know how it works for you!

Congrats guys 🥳 great launch, been using this for almost 6 months now
Julien Zmiro
Cheers @frcbls ! Super happy to learn that eesel helped you 🙌

To be honest, I have not used it earlier and I would like to share that it seems pretty useful after I have installed and used it for a while on Chrome. Looking forward to the Firefox extension as well :) I do have a quick question that I hope the categories are not limited but organic as I browse through different applications (which have links) in the future.
Julien Zmiro
Thanks @deepakshakya That’s pretty much how eesel works indeed! There’s a default list of products that we know are related to work, and documents from these products will automatically be added to your eesel as you browse, without you needing to manually install anything. Of course you can also customise eesel and add more products manually. I'll definitely let you know when eesel is available on Firefox!

@zmiro Sure. Looking forward to using Eesel. I completely agree with your point about finding things on GDrive :) and feels like I have a solution now. Good luck to you and your whole team!
Pat Teen
Congratulations team, this is slick. I used it while sharing screen in a Zoom meeting recently and others in the call said "what is THAT?"
Julien Zmiro
Thanks @pat_teen Super glad to read that!

I've been using this for a few months and find it extremely useful. I used to keep entire Chrome windows open with tabs full of docs related to a project. Now I know I can close them, safe in the knowledge that I can find them quickly and easily from any browser window whenever I actually need them.
amogh
Thanks, @pmckenna! Indeed - we hadn't expected how much mental burden is relieved just knowing that you can find your work whenever you need to.

Any fun technical hurdles you had to jump over to get this live? This is just beyond imagination! All tools in one centralized app =)
Julien Zmiro
@gianac Great question! Many actually, we could write about that at some point :D I'd say the most surprising thing to me was to realise that so many web products don't really follow web standard and conventions like having proper page titles. So eesel has to do some extra work in those cases.
amogh
@gianac @zmiro Adding to what Julien said, another really gnarly/fun part was coming up with flexible 'product rules' https://intercom.help/eesel/en/a... It's kind of like glob patterns for product urls. Thanks for that interesting q! It was fun reflecting back.
Devin McGloin
Congrats on the launch! I've been using eesel for the past half year or so and it's really top notch. Definitely a massive productivity boost.
Julien Zmiro
Thank you so much @devinmcgloin !
David Newell
Eesel is fun! I use it to find the most recent docs/files I've been working on, or for products that don't don't make it easy to find projects *cough, cough* Google Docs
amogh
@davidnewell95 Thanks for the support, Dodge :) Not a loading spinner enthusiast then, I see?
