Cal Vs Calendly

is there any reason to prefer one over the other? Have you used both or either?

My needs are simple. I want to be able to add two accounts and let someone put a meeting on my calendar from a link. I think both cover the use case -- which should I use?

has a more generous free plan, is open-source, and is bootstrapped. Those 3 make it my pick!

 Solid reasons.

I didn’t know they were bootstrapped. Pretty awesome. FYI Calendly was also bootstrapped for years before they raised a huge round recently.
haven’t they raised $32m..

oh wow, good call. I stand corrected!

also just realized cal is totally free for my usecase, vs 10/mo on calendly to support multiple calendars. seems like basically a no brainer..

because your need are simple —now.
But your usage will evolve over the years, and I personally found more flexible.

We had this discussion at Croct several months ago, and it was the exact same use case. I was personally/manually using Calendly, and we decided to move forward with for the new website. We're absolutely happy with our decision :)

Gotta say is great. I prefer it over calendly since it has a more generous free plan. That and I can add as many calendars as I want. Makes sharing my availability much easier

what in cal.com’s free tier you want that isn’t offered from calendly?

 Multiple calendars

As mentioned his 3 reasons, I am also for these arguments + Cal has more UX/UI friendly environment so it has always been easier to me to create schedule, set prices for a call etc.

Cal offers more value in its base plan (advanced customization and features as used by technical users) and Calendly is cheaper initially but scales up in cost (more user friendly + most app compatible).

because one of their older hero images said this:

"Book me and I will never give you up. Cal will never let you down. Open Source will never run around and desert you."

If that's not the best way to get Rick Rolled, I don't know what is!

Just to put a bow on this i went with .

main reasons were 1. the price, 2. i liked the ui that the "meeting requester" got to see. 3. it seems less corporate or something :)

thanks for the thoughtful replies all.

Since no one mentioned it: Vanilla Google Calendar has appointment booking built in now as well.

I came to say the exact same thing. This is pretty basic functionality at this point and I would be surprised if all the big mail programs don't offer it.
