Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Super excited to be back here again - we first launched Basedash all the way back in 2019. A lot has changed since then. AI has completely upended the way teams can work with their data, so 6 months ago we decided to build a whole new product from the ground up. Basedash connects directly to your database and instantly understands your schema. Just chat naturally with your data. Ask things like “Show me top customers by revenue” and get immediate visualizations. No SQL required. We built in things like: 💬 Natural language queries that actually work (i.e. no more half-baked results from ChatGPT) ⚡ Instant schema understanding - connect and query in minutes 🛠️ 550+ data source integrations ⌨️ Lightning-fast 60 FPS interface with full keyboard shortcuts 🔒 SOC 2 compliant with zero impact on your production DB Since this is the first big launch of our AI-native platform, we’re doing white glove onboarding to make sure that everything is configured perfectly. As thanks, we'll prioritize anyone who signs up from Product Hunt. Would love your feedback! If you could chat with your data, what questions would you ask?

@maxmusing @masump Hey Masum! Right now all of the Dashboards are fully customizable. You can make them however you want, that's the main benefit of the product. As a matter of fact, we have a dashboard made just for this launch, tracking all of the metrics, signups etc. They only take minutes to make since you don't have to write any SQL. As far as the automated storytelling... well you'll have to stay tuned for what we have in mind next. I'm very excited for what we can make with this new platform.

@maxmusing @masump That's a great idea! Customizable dashboards are already available, definitely let us know what you think. Automated storytelling is a great idea. Which feature would you use more?
Kristofer Lachance
@maxmusing @sonu_goswami2 thanks so much!

We’ve been heads-down for the past year refining every detail of our new AI-native platform. Our goal was to build something that feels genuinely magical—just ask a question in plain English and get a solid, trustworthy answer, and the best possible way to visualize the underlying data. We invested a ton of effort into making sure the AI truly understands your database schema right away, no matter how complex, so that you don't have to. One thing I’m personally excited about is how fast it all feels. We wanted zero lag, which is why we prioritized 60 FPS performance, instant loads, server-side caching, and full keyboard shortcuts. We've pulled a lot of inspiration from power user apps like Superhuman and Linear, and want to be sure that we're not only making an app that's easy to use, but that gets out of your way and lets you find answers to as many questions as possible as quickly as possible. Join the beta, and we’ll give you a hand with the white glove onboarding. Thanks for checking us out—excited to see what you all make with it!

One nice benefit for me in building this new product is that I got to dogfood it extensively by replacing/consolidating my Mixpanel, AppStore, and Quicksight dashboards for my other product (RYSE). I have 4 pretty permanent dashboards now and make a lot of adhoc dashboards to track new features: - All time app-wide metrics (# users, # workouts, device type, gender distribution, app settings breakdowns, etc) - a User specific dashboard (user lifetime value, user details, workout metrics, etc) - Trends (retention over time, referrals, user interests, etc) - Operational dashboard for stuff that happens every day (new user referrals, flagged posts, new subscribers, etc) It was super fast and easy to generate all of the charts for these dashboards. Kind of crazy how blind I was before this.
Tom Johnson
@bryan_hunter Can't overstate how valuable it was to have you dogfooding this for RYSE while building it. You know what you need to know, and adding those features for yourself was super cool to see.
Kristofer Lachance
@bryan_hunter @tomjohndesign Was so cool to see how quickly you and Jess were able to dogfood this and start getting value!
Steven Fabre
Great product and great team! Congrats on the launch!
Max Musing
Thank you @stevenfabre! We're using Liveblocks to power live presence across the app, it's been great.
Tom Johnson
Thanks @stevenfabre! Love using @Liveblocks in the product, thanks for all of the help getting it set up to work with the Monaco editor. It's awesome to have a collaborative SQL editor, and I'm really looking forward to adding more levels of collaboration into the product over the next few months. I think the team is probably tired of hearing me say "When can we add liveblocks here??" 🤣
Kristofer Lachance
@stevenfabre Thanks so much for the kind words! Team has been super happy to be powering some core elements of the app.
Jeremy Sarchet
@tomjohndesign, the new marketing page is splendid. Loving all the dynamic dither!
Tom Johnson
@jeremysarchet1 Thanks! Want to pass the credit to @ivan_garcia95 and the team at Reboot Studios. They did amazing work and I was thrilled to have extra help.
Kristofer Lachance
@tomjohndesign @jeremysarchet1 Tom is a creative genius! @ivan_garcia95 is a creative genius too :) So pumped about our new branding and the general direction.

Spent far too much time learning SQL in my days as a PM and having tested Basedash a few months ago I'm still thinking about how I wish I had this tool sooner. Stoked on what the team is building.
Kristofer Lachance
@colderoshay Thanks so much, Cole! Can definitely relate to the pains of writing half-baked SQL at midnight when your data team isn't online but you just desperately need those metrics 😅 Hope you like what we've been making!
Tom Johnson
@colderoshay That means a ton! Thanks again for the feedback, it was super helpful. I've tried and failed to learn SQL a few times, so I'm grateful that I don't have to worry about that any more. Makes understanding users so much easier.
Max Musing
Haha, me too. Newer AI models are getting really good at writing complex SQL against arbitrary schemas. Has been crazy to feel the improvements so directly while building the product and upgrading the underlying models.
Steven Tey
Have been using Basedash to track our north star metrics for over a year now, and the product is incredibly solid and just keeps getting better!
Tom Johnson
@steventey High praise! I've been recently using the work that you've done at @Dub.co with the conversion charts for some inspiration for when we tackle that type of chart. Looking forward to hearing what you think of the new app and seeing what you make with it!
Steven Tey
@dub @tomjohndesign that's phenomenal! we're honored to be an inspiration – will be checking this out, super excited!
Kristofer Lachance
@steventey Thanks Steven! We're huge fans of Dub, so this means a ton coming from you.
Max Musing
Awesome to hear Steven! Still have something special to send you, stay tuned 😄

Loved supporting the @Basedash team on their Product Hunt launch! The team really shines with their super refined design aesthetic and ability to ship fast. Their data visualizations are stunning and incredibly intuitive to create — you simply ask a question about what you want to see, and their AI determines the optimal way to represent it, and pulls the right data directly from your database or data source. Highly recommend checking this out — it's a super polished product and I'm stoked for this launch. 📈
Kristofer Lachance
@basedash @chrismessina Thanks so much for the kind words, Chris! We REALLY sweated the details on this new direction for the platform, so it means the world to me and the whole team to hear you say such kind things about the end result.
Tom Johnson
@basedash @chrismessina Thanks for hunting us and the feedback on the website and copy! Really excited for others to see the potential you see in our product. We've obviously biased so it's great to hear that we are on to something.
Max Musing
@chrismessina thanks for hunting Basedash! We're all stoked to ship this too.
Kristofer Lachance
We've been heads down building this for nearly a year. So excited that the world finally get to see this. I'm especially stoked about this launch as someone who's a non-technical repeat founder and marketer. I've always wanted to be better at business intelligence but you always just feel so hamstrung as someone who isn't technical. Sure, tools like Mode and Metabase have done a lot to make their platforms more user-friendly and intuitive, especially with the ability to build charts with UI instead of just SQL. But the reality is that the BI tools from the pre-AI era were really built for data scientists and data analysts. That means you have to rely on other people to get your data, and you're just never going to build as many dashboards as you'd like since you don't want to bother them. I've been personally blown away while using it for my own selfish workflows at Basedash. You just ask the chat whatever you'd ask a data scientist on your team and you immediately get a comprehensive, beautiful dashboard. It's made me 100x better at my job. Let us know what you think!
@Basedash has an incredible new platform that makes it very easy to create custom dashboard and views for your data. Can't recommend it enough!
Kristofer Lachance
@basedash @jdsimcoe thanks so much! do you use a lot of tools like these?
Tom Johnson
Thanks @jdsimcoe! Also really appreciate the feedback you gave last month during the alpha release! I'm sure data is locked up tight at Mercury, but I'd love to see you all try it out and see how it feels with real product data someday.
Max Musing
Thanks Jonathan, appreciate it!
