Tandem 2.0 - Unlock serendipity with the most powerful virtual office
by•
Tandem is a virtual office to connect effortlessly with your distributed or hybrid team. See who’s around, talk in one click. Unlock serendipity and real-time collaboration.
We've been using Tandem at Basedash since the start of the year, it's definitely our favorite form of meeting these days. Reliability and performance have been steadily improving over the past months which was our biggest concern when we first started using it. Love the flexibility of all the different types of calls—scheduled meetings, persistent rooms, ad hoc calls, and now team tables—which all seem to have their own place.
@maxmusing awesome to hear! Flexibility is so important in virtual comms - by contrast, in-person we have so many different ways to get in touch!
- I can just start talking
- I can wave at you
- tap you on the shoulder
- put a post-it on your desk
- Slack you
- we can grab a meeting room
- walk and talk
- have a brainstorm with others overhearing
All of these have their place, and soon...analogs in the virtual office!
- click to talk
- wave -> Wave in Tandem
- tap on the shoulder = DM
- post-it = Notify me when free
- slack you = slack you
- grab a meeting room = join a room, or automatic meeting rooms
- walk and talk = use Mobile!
- overhearing is the default on Tables!
Key question: does Cross Platform include Slack and Teams or do we have to migrate everyone off of one thing on to this to make it meaningful?
Desperately want something better, and this looks like it, but when people are stuck in their preferences (Google meet, Slack, SMS, etc.) and a solution doesn't work with their behavior, this is really only an Enterprise solution where HR/Management can force it through (or a startup/small team solution where a few people can agree to change)
@seobrien_mediatech We integrate with Slack, not deeply with Teams just yet. You can start by switching a few meetings to Tandem and using Tandem for the spontaneous chats, hallway conversations after meetings, and co-working / casual hangouts.
No need to switch all your scheduled meetings at first. If you have scheduled meetings (on google calendar), you can opt to launch a third-party like Meet/Zoom from Tandem (and you'll still get Presence). What do you think - will you trial it with your team?

@rajiv_ayyangar yeah certainly going to trial it; I'm already registered and on it. Slack integration looks more like a channel, to add to Tandem, rather than seamlessly migrating the people and conversations, is that correct?
We have been happy users of Tandem for a while now. Awesome to see the team continuing to crush it. I can’t imagine running a remote team without Tandem!
