Hi Product Hunt 👋
We’re back – and this time, Sugar Free is global.
Last year, many of you supported Sugar Free: Food Scanner and helped us
become one of the top products of the year on Product Hunt.
Your feedback showed us something important: people didn’t just want a sugar detector.
They wanted a smarter way to understand food labels, ingredients, and everyday choices.
So we rebuilt Sugar Free from the ground up.
Meet Sugar Free 2.0 – an AI-powered food scanner that reads labels in any language,
spots hidden sugars, risky additives, allergens, sweeteners, E-numbers, INS codes, and more,
then gives you a clear food score and simple verdict.
No barcode database required.
No guessing.
Just instant AI insights about what you eat – anywhere in the world.
What made Sugar Free different from the beginning was simple: we analyzed ingredients
directly from the label, not only from a barcode.
Now we’ve taken that idea much further.
Sugar Free can understand labels across countries and languages, explain what ingredients mean,
flag potential concerns, and help you make smarter choices while shopping, traveling,
or checking products for your family.
🚀 What’s new:
• Rebuilt global version – Sugar Free 2.0
• Works worldwide, in any language
• Reads labels from photos or barcodes
• Detects 12+ ingredient categories
• Spots hidden sugars, sweeteners, additives, allergens, E-numbers, INS codes, and more
• Flags 500+ potential health-related ingredient concerns
• AI-powered food rating from 1–10
• Clear verdict: good choice, limit intake, or avoid
• Full ingredient breakdown with simple explanations
• Designed for everyday use – for individuals and families
HOW TO USE SUGAR FREE
Scan a barcode or snap a photo of any label
Get a clear health score and see what’s really inside
If you want to manage your weight, eat cleaner, or build healthier habits, it’s not only about
counting calories – it starts with making smarter choices.
Choosing what to eat has never been this simple.
🎉 For the Product Hunt community:
To celebrate 11.11, we’re opening 3-month access to all features for our first 5,000 supporters
– this week only.
If Sugar Free wasn’t available in your country before, it is now.
Try the new version, explore the features, and share your feedback.
It truly helps us keep improving.
Thanks for growing with us 🙏

@xanderiang congrats with the launch! Looks very promising
Saywise
@xanderiang Congrats again on the launch. One interesting idea - you know how hot "longevity" is these days; can this app be a longevity guide? eg rating food in terms of some sort of "longevity score" which can be your proprietary food scoring system? :)

Swytchcode

ASOdesk ❤️ App Store Optimization
Does it work only with reading the ingredients table or it may know the containment by scanning the labels, for example with scanning the row of different products?
Emma Intelligence
@sergezakh Hi! I’m not completely sure I understood your question, but yes — we don’t rely only on the ingredients table. We can also analyze the full label, including different sections and text areas across various products.

@xanderiang @userio_neimio @yaponetsukoki Super neat launch - curious do you have any dieticians on staff or who have been consulted re: branding / different types of sugars / what healthy wholistic eating looks like or are we simply presuming the consumer can dissect what is good and bad?
Emma Intelligence
@xanderiang really cool!
