Awesome tool for students, researchers and life-long learners. It’s the best Roam or Notion alternative out there! I’m a huge fan of space-repetition, when studying for my master degree and RemNote helps a lot with this. Thanks for building such an amazing product! @moritzwallawitsch

Thanks @johannes_hagemann! And wish you great success with your masters!

I’m pretty well-versed in the tools for thought space, and Remnote is almost certainly the best for students, beautifully merging networked thought, flash cards, spaced repetition, and PDF annotation.

@roberthaisfield Thanks for the kind words, Rob :)

RemNote changed the way I take notes (no dead markdown documents anymore!) and its builtin spaced-repetition systems makes remembering a *choice* rather than a chance. Output of ideas is frictionless and the outline editor makes reorganizing thoughts effortless. Related ideas resurface automatically through the power of backlinks. And so forth... All this is well enough covered by other reviews. I want to highlight another, less obvious part of the app: It is INSANELY extendable and flexible: - You can model all writing styles: Free text daily journal, Zettelkasten, personal wikis, one big hierarchy, databases, you name it. - You can customize the appearance of each and every bit of the interface with CSS (font, colors, layouts, ...). - Plugins and API integration: You connect to any service e.g. by hooking your knowledge base to IFTTT. - Still not enough? With a bit of JavaScript you can make presentations, mermaid graphs, view flashcard review heatmap, send github issues, ... all directly from your notes. Furthermore you actually *own* your data. You can download it at any time, as markdown to just put it into a static site generator or import it into another tool, or as json and run all kinds of crazy analytics on it or transform it into a format of your choice. (Or make a local knowledge base and don't upload in the first place ;) ) If RemNote does not have a feature you want yet (unlikely :p), you can just build it yourself!

I'm so glad that I have finally found a home for my second brain @RemNote! It clicked for me when I realized the potential to use SRS for all my important notes. These previously ended up in Notion.so to be forgotten! The learning curve is really steep but 100% worth it! Further, I'm heavily impressed what amazing stack of tools you were able to implement with such a small team. I'm eager to see what 2021 brings for all of us when you continue on this pace! However, maybe for new users it would even be helpful to actually have less features in the beginning. Maybe some sort of "beginners mode" focusing on the core features. It felt a bit difficult for me to determine which tutorials/RemNoteTour parts I needed first to get my hands dirty efficiently. Keep going with your amazing work! Thanks for leveling up our brains! :)

I've been using like most of the beta users RemNote for 4 months now, and I don't think I'll use any other tool than it for studying; I love the smooth way of making flashcards and how I can reference those flashcards with an Alias. Besides that, RemNote is a Zettelkasten-friendly app. It does provide most of the essential Zettelkasten features for creating and connecting ideas.

I have been using Remnote for the past 6 months. I have noticed that they provide a new update consistently every 20 to 30 days or so. In fact, Within that period, they have made quite a few improvements to the UI/UX , launched a mobile app, an offline desktop app and a ton of backend improvements. They have also recently introduced the pro tier to monetize and accelerate the rate at which they improve the app. This is a testament to how committed the devs are to this unique application. Anyone from virtually any field can benefit by using remnote app as it is perfect for storing concepts in your long term memory as well as to link ideas between notes. I am excited for whatever future improvements the devs have planned to incorporate in the app.

After trying a lot of note-taking apps, watch a bunch of youtube reviews, and comparisons between different workflows I finally settle down using RemNote. It needs polish on the UI but I'm sure they're on the right track! Thanks for share this tool with the world, I'm sure that will have a huge impact on many users!

@martin_schneider1 I created a RemNote account some months ago. I'm a post-student (long post) looking for a better way than OneNote to remember material in the history books I'm reading (to make up for my narrow engineering training). Even after doing the tutorial, I still feel the learning curve for RemNote is a little steep, particularly getting to think intuitively about typing out an effective Rem. Any more tips, or should I just keep climbing the learning curve by using RemNote?
Martin Schneider
@martin_schneider1 @steven_wallach Hi Steven - we're continuing to work on making this as easy as possible, and we've added a number of new on-boarding options since we had a chat this summer. I'd consider looking at the guided tutorials within the tool, looking at our new video series on YouTube (http://bit.ly/RemNoteTutorials), or asking on our forum http://forum.remnote.io/. However, there is still inevitably some amount of learning curve. I would just start simple, and use the minimal amount of features that you need. Then, I would periodically reflect on what's blocking you, and then look if there's any feature that matches your need. For example: - If you feel blocked by your notes being disconnected, try Rem References - If you feel blocked by your queue being too large, try a custom scheduler - If you feel blocked by your notes being disconnected from your source material, try the PDF integration If you need help with figuring out what to use, definitely just ask on the forum as well.

@martin_schneider1 @steven_wallach i think it is not the learning of RemNote in particular It takes some time to get used to the outline structure . parents, childrens, hierchies and then the links, if u try to link everything at once, it becomes overwhelming sometimes, one should take it slow and steadily, (doing it regularly and not one day a week) making flash cards, while making flashcards many of us do a mistake to making everything a flashcard and then trying to learn them -there is nothing wrong in making everything into a flashcard, but the problems lie when one tries to learn them all at once, for example in history, one needs to memorize the pre-war events separately, the specific people who were involved separately, and then only learn them at once. As you can see, the parts of the app packs such powerful features, tbh, I was in exposure to these features in separate apps, so it didn't take me much time, but if someone is trying all these features for the first time, it can be a lot of work in the beginning. keep hanging, we are all with you :) (sorry for the long comment)

?makers re:Lifetime 1- What will happen to my data after 5 Years Cloud Storage, 2- If i would like to renew my Cloud Storage after 5 years how much will it cost? 3- Would you also consider another tier of Lifetime Membership which includes lifetime Cloud Storage, too. 4- Why not Lifetime access to V2 (if it release in the future) or any upgrade path to our Lifetime accs?
Pediatric Doctor
Also lifetime 300 USD will be only for 5 years? I thought it will be forever?
Martin Schneider
@temizyurek 1. After the 5 year period, all work done while using RemNote Pro remains in your account. For example, you’ll have ongoing access to all existing Aliases, PDF Uploads/Highlights, and Image Occlusion Cards. To create new ones, you’ll need to resubscribe to RemNote Pro. You'll be able to re-subscribe to the cloud support version for a reduced fee. 2. We're not yet sure, but we'll make sure you get a better deal than the main plan. 3. We're being careful to build a sustainable business, and we don't see a path to do this yet. However, we may consider expanded plans at some point. 4. We'll likely provide an upgrade path with a reduced upgrade cost.
Martin Schneider
@pediatric_doctor You get access to the Pro features in the desktop app for life. However, we can't support infinite web storage costs, the Life-Long Learning plan offers 5 years of synced web Pro features.
Ersan Temizyürek
@martin_schneider1 At first i was really amazed to see the lifetime deal, however when i got into details i am so disappointed. Terms are far away what real lifetime offering should be. 1- Confining the user with v1 is not acceptable in the LTD world. 2- I will invest into the platform for about 4 years in advance (Pro Plan) and i still have no idea what will be provided (Your 2. & 4. comments) A member's comment: "Not so sure if this is a true LTD. It says if they ever release V2, it's not included." 3- Lifetime offerings are a great way to fundraise and more importantly those customers will be your ambassadors. Remnote lost a huge opportunity here to convert Roam users. I published this deal into one of my LTD groups and nobody is interested. Hope you will consider much solid REAL LTD offering and these people will definetely be your best customer in the long run. 4- Make it $500 include all future updates LTD and another LTD option with Lifetime Cloud Storage and see how you will convert people. 5- Work with someone who really understands the LTD world.
