What activities to do after the PH launch?

Yesterday, we discussed how many times it is beneficial to launch on this platform.

With each launch, there is a benefit of "exposing yourself".

How you can make yourself visible after the launch is another crucial topic, because it can create a "buzz".

These are activities that I believe would help highlight the previous launch and maintain its momentum:

  • I usually spotted personalised DMs to supporters.

  • Some people released PR (when the launch was successful) – but they also tied it with next steps to announce something – probably was a part of the strategy.

  • Social media posts.

  • Announcing in the newsletter.

  • Reflecting the campaign in PH forums (learnings, tips & hacks, what worked – approach).

  • Showing in podcasts and talking about the experience (just one part of the interview – the interview was more complex).

  • Following up with the launch on other platforms and highlighting the previous success on Product Hunt.

Basically, with each event, you’re creating content and keeping the conversation around the occasion alive for a longer period of time.

P.S. It’s a good idea to post Product Hunt-related topics in the p/producthunt forum so they appear under the right category.

Do you have any other suitable activities on mind?

A few extra ideas:

Share early user stories/testimonials — social proof is gold.

Repurpose launch content into threads, blogs, or short clips.

Stay active in comments & discussions — keeps the convo alive.

Get relevant creators/communities to share their take.

Drop a mini follow-up update tied to the launch — another reason to talk!

Basically, the more ways you keep the story alive, the longer the buzz lasts 🚀

Nika

@arina_chen You summed it up. Keep the momentum as long as you can :)

Nika

@arina_chen BTW, I like the first tip the most :)

@arina_chen comments definitely help to keep the engagement up

Great insights! From my view, the real magic is post-launch, that's when momentum can last. How often do you think updates can be shared without feeling spammy? Have you seen creative ways to keep the buzz going?
btw thanks a lot for your content!

Nika

@vkarampinis I think you should share these things in a 2-month period, everything gradually. You can also share some posts e.g. one year after, as a reminder :) Nostalgia sells as well :)

Absolutely agree with everything here. Keeping the momentum alive after the launch is where most of the real work (and payoff) happens.

I’d add a couple more things I’ve found helpful, especially for SaaS or tech founders:

  1. Host live Q&A sessions or AMAs shortly after launch on Twitter Spaces or Discord. It not only keeps conversations alive but also builds a stronger connection to your early users.

  2. Creating BTS content about what went into the launch or how feedback is shaping your next product iterations. People love to feel part of the journey. (I'm a big content guy and I put content over everything)

  3. Use Micro-influencers or relevant niche communities to amplify key updates, especially with fresh user stories or just wins from the launch.

It's important to balance follow-ups between creating new content versus amplifying existing launch assets without overwhelming their audience - its an area where I think I miss.

@sanskarix All 3 points are legit, thank you for completing the list :)

you can make email to supporters? how to do it?

Nika

@sergey_glukhov do you mean send out the email to people who upvoted?

Sergey Glukhov

@busmark_w_nika yes - i have no idea how to get that list. like we get 45 followers - but who is these followers - i have no clue, who upvoted also

Nika

@sergey_glukhov I think that you should see the profiles of upvoters in your launch, or? Maybe you could find them according to their names on LinkedIn and reach out to them additionally to subscribe to your newsletter.

Totally agree that post-launch activities are underrated. And well, we actually wrote a post after our launch of NoForm AI (even though we landed #16) and shared what we learned - here’s the post for anyone curious.

BTW, which of these activities have you seen work best to keep people talking after launch day?

Nika

@oksana_ch Thank you, Oksana, for getting us informed. To be honest, when the founder has a big following, his social media (announcing) posts work the best. But I think these work best in continuity.

Celebrate and continue working.

I'm not to this stage yet, but I'm watching this thread closely. Personally, gathering testimonials and continuing a newsletter both should beneficial.
Nika

@tmtabor People are more likely to open/catch something in emails, and the email list is something you cannot lose :)

Thanks for sharing these strategies! I love the idea of personalized DMs to supporters. It really helps build a community around your product and keeps the excitement going.

Nika

@peilan_qin It is a common practice that people DM me about upvoting their product and also commenting, tho I rather comment only on products I try myself or are somehow related to the field I am interested in the most :)

Peilan Qin

@busmark_w_nika I hear you on that! It makes total sense to comment only on products you’ve actually tried or are really into. But sometimes, maybe people just want to share their work or connect? Or do you think emailing might work better for most?

Nika

@peilan_qin DMs on social media worked. Be prepared that bigger creators may miss your message.

I hope I do. I’m not creative when it comes to business development. I’m just a tech guy. Or maybe I chose not to be creative with business development. I’ve been working on Techmore (https://www.producthunt.com/prod... ) for the past 2 weeks now for product launch, planning on how we can have a beautiful launch. Yet I don’t think I’m doing it the right way. Or maybe it’s not the right thing . I really need help.
Nika

@techmore When it comes to the video, I would personally show more from the product :)

Thanks for the breakdown, Nika - super useful, as always! How long after a PH launch do you consider it still makes sense to act on your recommendations? A couple of days, a week, a month?

Nika

@andreitudor14 Gradually, start with the posts the day after, start reaching out to PRs or podcasts (not so many circle back, so this can happen after weeks when you claim some spot and when the podcast is released).
