Hey PH! First up - THANK YOU @wesbos for hunting us. We really appreciate it. We're all big fans of yours at Payload. I'm one of Payload's founders. Let me tell you... we're pumped to finally be here. The team and I have been grinding for almost three years, working toward our vision of a CMS that allows us to finally build websites and apps how we've always wanted to. We've now got a handful of real-world Payload projects out there, and it's time to get the word out. A little background: outside of Payload, I have been a designer / developer for over ten years. I also founded a digital design firm called TRBL (top-right-bottom-left CSS joke), and we take pride in building well-crafted stuff. We like perfectly structured code. We like giving content editors stuff that can't break. We like impressing clients. And we've been given a chance to work on a lot of really thrilling stuff - from massive enterprise websites to mini web-based video games. Over the years, we've been exposed to a LOT of different stacks and methodologies, but the missing piece has always been the CMS. There are a lot of options out there - I know, we've tried them - but none of them have everything that we need. Our list of "perfect CMS" requirements has grown alongside of our experience, and it's now pretty daunting. We need: - A CMS with a dev / code-first mentality, so we can be proud of even the CMS - Headless - Completely self-hosted - Node / TypeScript - Block based layout builder - GraphQL - REST API - Local Node APIs for server-side data manipulation - Extensible / reusable auth, so we don't have to go integrate with an external auth API in addition to the CMS - A platform that we can extend and build on top of - A fully customizable React admin panel where we can plug in our own components - Full, built-in field by field localization (not a plugin, not an afterthought) - Granular document access control - Local file uploads - And a lot more. Payload has all of this and so much more. Its developer experience is light years better than what we've dealt with in the past thanks to its config-based approach. We launched in January, and we truly believe that it's finally the silver bullet solution to everything we've needed as an experienced dev shop. It's catapulted our own efficiency and given us a new level of actual, honest "interest" in building out CMS-powered sites and apps. The Payload team and I would be thrilled to hear your thoughts, gather your feedback, and answer your questions. We look forward to getting Payload into more hands and continuing to make it the best CMS it can possibly be. @andrew_keats Thanks! A ton of work has gone in to the product and people using it have had really great things to say.

@dribbens Wishing you much success and maybe I'll get a chance to try it out in the future :)

A pretty impressive set of features 👍
Dan Ribbens
Thank you @nbransby. When it comes to building a CMS product it has to be built out far enough to cover the full list of needs before it is viable for professional work. It took a few years of development to achieve that and be useful for actual client work on real apps and websites. We're proud of what all Payload CMS can do and hope to see it disrupt the current market. There is no reason content management should be a pain point for developers today.

@dribbens Good point! Once again congrats on creating a great product!

Pretty cool to see PayloadCMS here! I had the pleasure of working with @jamesmikrut and his team over the years on the Maxihost brand and website and can attest to their talent. They are genuinely interested in understanding their customer's businesses and pain points and working on solutions. I'm also pretty surprised to see that Payload has evolved from a CMS to a full-fledged app framework with such an incredible feature set. Looking forward to seeing some cool apps built on top of Payload!

@ebsalberto we need to catch up! What a great surprise to see you stopping by here. Thanks for the kind words - if only Payload was around when we built the Maxihost site ;)

This code-first CMS is a powerful tool for developers creating amazing Jamstack sites. Congratulations, I have a question: Do you have a roadmap? I want to contribute in the OSS project :)
Dan Ribbens
@coderdiaz Hey I appreciate your interest. We are working on creating a public roadmap. It will be out soon. Until then, join us in the github discussions where most feature requests are flushed out before being worked on. https://github.com/payloadcms/pa...
