Wow. This is really great. Is there a way in the app to use the flash without taking a picture - say if I wanted to use it as lighting for my DSLR?

@adamsigel: Thanks for the tip. To be honest the CAD was one of the easiest parts - it's managing the supply chain that was tricky.

@dgould: Glad you're having fun with it. Tell your friends :)

@cyborgnation Thanks! At the moment you have to use the app, but we've got an open source SDK to allow others to create their own apps with it. If there's enough demand, we may add that feature ourselves.

@joewalnes Open Source SDK you say...... Sounds like I've got a new weekend project. Edit: Just a heads up - I was reading the SDK page on your site and it's all still worded for an SDK release in the future, I was kind of bummed until I saw the github link.

@joewalnes one more question: does it have enough power to be used as a bounce flash?
Joe Walnes
@cyborgnation: Thanks for the heads up. I'll update the SDK docs. @adamsigel: Because it's diffused and off-camera it works well without bouncing. But if you do want to bounce it, it'll work if the bounce surface is reasonably close, though it's not as bright as a classic horseshoe speedflash.

Okay @joewalnes you got yourself another customer. Can't wait to try it out!

Phew, that was close!
