Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I’m Nela, co-founder of

I spent 10 years recruiting for technical and non-technical roles at Microsoft, Amazon, and Stripe, to name a few. I reviewed thousands of resumes and interviewed thousands of candidates.

Time and time again, I saw qualified people get passed over simply because their resumes didn’t connect their experience to the role, or because they struggled to explain that experience in an interview. They had the right skills, but hiring managers weren’t seeing the connection.

That stayed with me because many of those people were incredibly talented, genuine people whom I had to give the unfortunate news of rejection, which is honestly the worst part of recruiting.

So, we built HireKey around the recruiting knowledge I’d gathered over those 10 years, giving job seekers access to the perspective from the other side of the hiring table.

HireKey helps you assess how your experience fits a role, tailor your resume, practice interviews with an interactive AI voice coach, and track your applications in one place.

How it works

1. Add the job and your master resume. Find a role you want to apply for and add its title, company, location, and job description to HireKey’s Job Tracker. Upload your master resume once, then use it across the jobs you’re considering.

2. Tailor your resume and assess your fit. HireKey adapts your master resume to the job description, bringing your relevant experience into focus, along with an analysis of missing skills or experience and whether transferable experience could help bridge those gaps.

3. Practice out loud, on demand. Practice using the STAR framework with an interactive AI voice coach. Get specific feedback on where your answers are strongest and where you still need practice.

4. Keep your search organized. Track applications through stages such as applied, screening, and interviewing, so you always know where things stand.

A closer look at interview practice

Knowing your work and explaining it clearly are two different skills. This was something I saw repeatedly as a recruiter, and it’s why interview practice is such an important part of HireKey.

You can choose practice questions or add your own, then start speaking with the coach, all on demand. It responds to what you actually say and helps you identify where an answer needs more clarity or detail. You also get a debrief on what went well and what to improve.

Prefer to prepare on your own first? You can print interview questions with tips on how to approach your answers.

Who it’s for

HireKey is built for people pursuing technical and non-technical roles in tech, especially when you:

- Find an interesting role but aren’t sure how well your experience fits.
- Need help making your relevant experience clear on your resume.
- Know your work but struggle to explain it in an interview.
- Have multiple applications in progress and need to keep track of them.

We’d love to hear from you: What’s hardest about job searching? Is it deciding where to apply, showing your experience on paper, or talking about it in an interview?

Congratulations on the launch, Nela! 🎉 Finishing at #1 is a wonderful result, and it makes sense — ten years of recruiting on the other side of the table is exactly the perspective job seekers never get to see. The interview practice part sounds like the piece that would help people most!

💎 Pixel perfection

If I ever decide to look or need a new role will be leveraging , It's been over 20 years since I've had to take a job interview, so I may need this. Best of Luck.

thank you! After 20 years, I think most of us would want a practice round before an interview. If the time comes, I hope HireKey helps you feel ready. Really appreciate the support.

Great product and congrats on the launch! In an increasingly crowded space, I think this is the first product I've seen that stays with the applicant through the whole process, from application to interview practice. How does the voice coach adapt to different personalities, industries, fields?

thank you. Keeping the steps connected was a big part of why we built HireKey. The interview questions for recruiter screen and hiring manager interviews are generated around the specific role and job description, so practice can reflect different fields. For the voice interview coach, during an answer, the voice coach follows what you actually say and asks for more detail when your contribution, decisions, or results aren’t clear. It doesn’t profile your personality or try to make everyone sound the same. The goal is to help you explain your own experience with enough substance for an interviewer to understand it.
😹 LOL

the voice coach might be the thing i never knew i needed, my interview game is rusty, maybe i'll just try it out.

Please do, it's free! Try answering one question out loud, even if it feels awkward at first. That’s the part most of us don’t get to practice. I’d love to hear how it goes.

The voice interview coach caught my attention. Does the feedback change based on the specific role you’re applying for or is it mainly focused on how clearly you structure and explain your answers? Congrats & team! Routing for you guys :)

thanks so much! There are actually 2 interview practice types. One where it's specific to the job and can be generated for the recruiter screen stage and for the hiring manager stage. So this does change based on the specific role. These don't require practicing out loud: Just a list with role-specific questions and guidance on how to answer them.

Then, there is a voice interview coach where you get to practice live with the AI voice coach on-demand. This one specifically focuses on practicing the STAR method of interviewing because every tech company I know uses the STAR interview method and it's the part of the interview where many applicants fail because of its specific requirements.

Hey Product Hunt! I’m Lance, co-founder of HireKey 👋

Nela shared why we started HireKey, so I’ll keep this short. We’ve put a lot of thought into the small moments that make a job search exhausting: losing track of a role, rewriting the same experience again, or wondering whether you’re ready for an interview.

I’m excited to finally put HireKey in your hands. If you give it a try, I’d love to hear what helps and what feels awkward. We’re here today and reading every comment.

Congrats on the launch! Whats your fav use case among all of them?

Thank you. I have a soft spot for interviews, so for me it's the ability to practice interviewing out loud with the interview voice coach. Even speaking from my own experience, you can know your work inside out and still freeze when someone asks you to talk through it. I love that people can get real interview practice before the actual interview.

How about adding MCP to this, mostly I use AI to apply for the jobs, and its really pain for me adding each job on this platform after applying, so if it could have MCP, AI can do that for me, and I can use it more efficiently.

you’re right that adding every job by hand is a pain. We’re almost done building a Chrome extension (it wasn't ready to go live by today's launch date). We are aiming to launch it within the next two weeks, and it will let you auto capture a job posting into HireKey without retyping it. The idea is to get the job into HireKey before you apply, so you can check the fit and tailor your resume for that role first and use your tailored resume to apply. Your MCP suggestion is interesting too, especially if your AI assistant could bring a job into HireKey at that point in the process. Which AI tool are you using today?
This looks awesome. 🤩
thank you 🥰 it was a long building process and we're still not fully there yet but we're getting there.

I'm a junior backend dev in Brazil applying for remote roles, both local and international. Two questions: does the recruiter input carry over to hiring outside big US tech, and does the voice coach give feedback to non-native English speakers, or only on the content of the answer?

thank you, and great questions. Our recruiter perspective comes from US tech, but HireKey looks at the requirements of the specific role you’re applying to. Showing relevant backend work and being clear about what you personally built can help across markets. We haven’t validated every recommendation against Brazilian hiring practices, so I wouldn’t claim the guidance is universal. For English interview practice, you can answer the voice coach out loud. It gives feedback on the content and structure of your answer, including how clearly you explain your actions and results. It doesn’t grade your accent, pronunciation, or fluency, and speech recognition can sometimes mishear words. You can also type your answer. Are you applying to roles with English interviews, Portuguese interviews, or both? This can help us prioritize language features.

Thanks for the straight answer, the "not universal" part is useful to know. So far all my applications have been in Portuguese, for Brazilian companies. The international roles I want to try next interview in English, and that's where a voice coach would help. Feedback on how clearly I explain what I built is the part I need most: my projects are solo, and it's easy to either undersell them or explain every detail. If you add pronunciation feedback later, non-native speakers would be a big group to test it with.

that balance between underselling a solo project and explaining every detail is exactly what I’d want the coach to help with. If you try an English practice question, I’d love to hear where the feedback helps and where it falls short. I’d also be happy to spend 15–20 minutes talking through one of your project answers and sharing my recruiter perspective. Your experience would help us improve HireKey too. If you’re interested, email me at . And thank you for the thoughtful offer to help test pronunciation feedback if we build it.
