We are witnessing social media moving at an unbelievable pace. You wake up everyday learning about new trends. With all the hype around meta not being able to match the expectations, to Elon Musk doing some peculiar activities with Twitter. Are we about to jump into the new dimension of social media? If yes, then what are your thoughts?
Hello Makers, I would love to know where you guys are at building your product. Let's see if we can help each other. I will start. I am close to finishing up my product. But I need to do testing. Where are you? EDIT:- You can checkout the launch here https://www.producthunt.com/post...
I keep hearing and reading about how programmers are at risk; basically, everything that can be replaced by AI is at risk.
Yesterday, Lenny Rachitsky shared a post that PM openings are at the highest levels since 2022.
At the same time, I read how big giants (Meta, Amazon, etc.) are laying off engineers because of AI, and then I read about how they had to hire back again because something managed by AI went wrong.
Well hello there! I'm Arvid Kahl, I'm a coder, an entrepreneur, and a writer. Over the last few years, I've been sharing my entrepreneurial journey through building in public and writing. I co-founded a SaaS business with my life partner Danielle Simpson back in 2017. We sold it for a life-changing amount of money just two years later as it had reached $55k MRR. Ever since then, I have been spending my days empowering other founders to find their own way to financial independence. My latest book The Embedded Entrepreneur is a guide to building a business the right way around: by focusing on your future audience from day one. I've been mentoring and teaching founders the audience-centric way to great success. I write, I read, I speak, I nap a lot, and I love engaging with founders. And now I'd like to talk to you! AMA
One of the most common questions every founder wrestles with early on is exactly this.
Do you go where nobody else is and risk building something the market doesn't understand yet? Or do you enter a proven market and compete against players who already have distribution, brand, and loyal users?
July and August are approaching. The months when pretty much everyone in Europe takes time off. So I'm curious how other founders here handle it.
A lot of founders end up taking their break during this window simply because it's when their kids are out of school and their partner's schedule lines up too. On top of that, many B2B companies see slower activity during these months anyway, so it makes sense to step back when there's naturally less happening.
We are increasingly connected to our phones which can make it difficult to fully unplug or be present at times. Once you wake up to start your day, how quickly do you reach for your phone to check your mentions, emails, etc?
I have been thinking about this recently. When I discover a new SaaS product, I don t only judge it by the design or features. I usually look at whether the homepage explains the problem clearly, if the pricing is simple, if there are real screenshots, and if the team/founder feels reachable.
Sometimes, a simple product with clear messaging feels more trustworthy than a very polished product with vague promises.
What do you personally check before trusting or trying a new SaaS product?
