What do you think of AI music?

by
AI music is the next big thing it seems, and it's got a lot of people talking about it, some support, others not so much. What do you think?

In my own opinion as a musician, I'm okay with AI assistance in music, but I feel a bit weird seeing artists vocals used without their permission to create an entirely new song and I'm not talking about sampling a verse or a line, more so using their actual voice to appear as if it is them

@aaronoleary I agree. I think it will become a powerful tool to boost your creativity. There is the lingering thought though that it could turn into a dystopian reality if it becomes too powerful. Image if anybody can write an original song with any artists voice with just the push of a button…
@aaronoleary and then there would also be too many copyright conflicts.

I think AI could be really good in the beat department.

@arkbm Same! What excites me is removing barriers to producing music. As it stands, it takes at least a couple of years before you can make anything good with current teaching methods. Throw in AI for tutoring and assistance in, say beat-making, and it should dramatically shorten that time.

Where do you even find AI music? I've seen headlines about it but I've never actually listened to any stuff

@naomichao it’s all happening on the AI Hub discord, and most of the things that get posted are taken down a few hours later https://discord.gg/9Aeep9sJrt

Music is very personal to everyone. When electronic music came, it pissed off the bands that worked hard drumming and playing bass. But it didn't take the job away. Old school music lovers still love seeing live bands. GenZ, on the other hand are already inclined to music produced by computers. Music produced by AI is great. I heard few songs. But I won't enjoy it. I want to see few persons on the stage and hear the story why they wrote that song. There has to be a story. AI doesn't have the story.

Interesting to to see Grimes licensing her voice for 50% revenue share on any Ai music using it. Perhaps may older musicians will do the same that aren't writing any more? Also saw an interesting use case of it being used to personalise music to the listens name (for advertising). I hope people continue to form emotional bonds with music in the future rather than having it as just for the background.

While AI music may offer exciting new possibilities for the industry, it ultimately lacks the emotional depth and creativity that human musicians bring to their craft. Let's not forget to support and champion real artists who pour their hearts into their work.

I feel AI generated music will be the next big thing. Just like generated art, you might be able to define different genres and styles through prompts, resulting in a truly diversified music. I feel it will be helpful for musicians.

I kinda feel bummed out for the real musicians since AI music will evolve to a point where we can no longer clearly distinguish which are real compositions by real people. It will come to a point where most people will doubt any music created by real musicians.

I think musicians will probably feel less enthusiastic. As a consumer I think it’s pretty cool. Now essentially we can have infinite covers

Interesting, I think it will democratize the music-making process by allowing anyone to create original music with little or no musical training. Additionally, AI music can be used for commercial purposes, such as soundtracks for movies, video games, and advertising. Types of music that are not going to required a super professional studio behind
