What are the 5 tools you simply couldn't do your work without?

This could be related to your industry, or even a side project you're working on.

Here are my 5 (I couldn't function without them):

  1. Grammarly – proofreading my texts, not just posts, but also client communication

  2. ChatGPT / Claude – mostly brainstorming, help with copy, and summarising

  3. Figma – I can put the basic graphics together quickly.

  4. Translator – sounds incredibly old-school, but English is not my mother tongue

  5. Gmail – and not only for communication, but also for storing ideas and sending myself email reminders for posts

[and soon one more that I am working on – – prevents me from being banned on LinkedIn, so I will not lose my account.]

Here are my top five tools:

1. ChatGPT/Claude: For writing, brainstorming, research, answering questions, content creation, and problem-solving.

2. Canva: To create social media posts, presentations, flyers, logos, videos, and marketing materials.

3. Quillbot: To paraphrase, rewrite, summarise, check grammar, and improve text clarity.

4. Gmail: To send, receive, organise, and manage emails.

5. CapCut: To create and edit videos, add effects, captions, transitions, and optimise content for social media.

Mine are probably:

ForthWrite – biased because I’m building it, but I send a ton of email and need help getting drafts out quickly without sounding like a generic AI wrote them.

Claude – brainstorming, coding help, debugging product decisions, and turning scattered thoughts into something usable.

Vercel – makes it really easy to ship, test, and iterate quickly without getting bogged down in deployment headaches.

Supabase – makes it way easier to move quickly without spending weeks setting up backend infrastructure.

GitHub – version control, shipping, tracking changes, and generally keeping the product from turning into chaos.

Essentially, the list is a tool that I built, and the enablement layer that makes it possible.

Claude is awesome isn't it!? I started with chatgpt a few months ago, and jumped on the Claude bandwagon about a month later. But both are in my top 5 for brainstorming and executing my ideas. I'm fairly new to the game though. I don't even know what grammarly is, at least not yet anyway. I'd have to day gmail and Instagram, with elevenlabs filling that 5th spot for makibg my life just a little bit easier 😅

As an applied ML scientist building in the health space, mine are pretty niche:

1. Claude – my primary thinking partner for everything from system design to debugging production ML pipelines

2. Cursor – I can't imagine going back to writing code any other way

3. Xcode Instruments – indispensable when optimizing on-device ML models (INT4/INT8 quantization) for iPhone

4. Notion – where all my research notes, sprint plans, and voice biomarker documentation live

5. HealthOS (my own!) – I do a 30-second voice check every morning before work. When my stress and fatigue signals are both elevated before 9am, I know to protect my deep work blocks. Built it because I needed it.

Bonus: Moonshine ASR – the on-device speech recognition model that makes #5 possible without any audio ever leaving my phone.

Notion, Gmail, Loom, Linear, and a plain notes app on my phone.

The one that surprises people is the notes app. Most decisions that actually mattered happened in a conversation I wasn't ready for. It's the only thing fast enough to catch them before they disappear.

What do people use for commitments that live in email but never become actual tasks? That gap kills me.

Mine looks like this:

• ChatGPT for copywriting, sales messages, brainstorming, and turning rough ideas into something useful.

• Gemini for strategic thinking, research, and challenging my assumptions before making decisions.

• NotebookLM for project work. Honestly, I can’t imagine working without it anymore. It helps me organize information, connect ideas, and stay focused when projects become complex.

• because it’s my own product. I use it constantly while building and improving it. There’s no better way to understand your users than using your own product every day.

Right now I’m looking for the best AI tool for video creation and editing.
