It can backfire, but it can also help you find product-market fit. One more thing, money is not the right reason to do it. YES - if it's the right fit for your product. Timing + deal structure are key. Make sure your onboarding is super smooth to handle the flood of new users. Provide awesome support to turn them into long-term fans. Appsumo can jumpstart your growth but you gotta retain those users!
