Building CitedSpy to help brands win in AI search – what should we measure?
by•
Over the last few months I’ve been interviewing founders and marketers who are worried their brand is invisible inside AI tools, even though they’ve invested heavily in content and SEO.
With CitedSpy, our goal is to track:
– Where your brand is cited or recommended in AI answers.
– The gaps vs. your closest competitors.
– Concrete actions you can take to improve that visibility.
I’d love to turn this into a mini‑AMA / feedback thread:
If you could ask one question about your brand’s performance in AI search today, what would it be?
"Happy to share what we’re learning from early experiments and research as replies if that’s useful."

@hieyashrajGreat question and totally fair to ask.
Ahrefs/Semrush are amazing for web SEO: keywords, backlinks, SERP positions, and now some AI‑visibility modules.
CitedSpy’s focus is deeper for future:
– We track where and how your brand is cited inside AI assistants themselves (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, etc.), not just in traditional search results.
– We analyze the actual answers and prompts to show when your product is recommended, ignored, or mis‑represented in AI outputs.
– We turn that into actionable playbooks for content, docs, and distribution specifically aimed at improving AI‑assistant visibility, not only rankings in Google.
So the USP is:
CitedSpy = “Brand intelligence inside AI answers” vs “SEO analytics around your site.”
That said, I’d love to hear how you’re currently using Ahrefs/Semrush and where they fall short for AI‑assistant visibility, it’ll help us sharpen what we build.
