I am really interested in seeing what developers are going to do with ARKit. The fact that IOS has a huge adoption rate will help democratize AR in Apple products and in general. I also want to try ARKit so much 😱

Was really sure about this coming at WWDC, 17 by Feb only. 😆 https://twitter.com/IAmRahulKapo...

We're implementing ARKit scenes into Episode 2 of our Victorian detective adventure Silent Streets: https://youtu.be/n6xY0p-IjC4

Apple's tech is two heads above the conventional simplistic AR like Vuforia (which was used in Silent Streets Episode 1).

Pros:

Good plane recognition and object positioning, well-calibrated visual inertial odometry

Cons:

Can have issues in poor lighting or plain backgrounds. Needs looking around first to detect flat surfaces.

Finally, this move was what we needed to bring AR into the mainstream.

For me it's interesting how late this actually came. We launched our first AR game in 2010, and for a while there were some interesting projects around AR, but then it all kinda faded for a while, glad it's back and Apple formally supports this tech. If anyone's interested in the game

Will be exciting to see what developers come up with this. Besides better Pokemon Go placement ;)
