I want to say something that has nothing to do with features.

I went to one of those liberal arts schools where discussing ancient philosophic texts in the middle of a party was a normal thing.
If you went to a school like that too, you know the routine.
Someone at a family dinner asks what you're going to do with that, then answers their own question with a joke about coffee shops. I heard it enough times that I started making the joke first, just to get ahead of it.

I spent a lot of that degree with Aristotle, and specifically with the Nicomachean Ethics. His argument, roughly, is that you don't get good at something by knowing about it. You get good at it by doing it, badly, over and over, with someone next to you who can tell you when you're doing it wrong.
Excellence isn't a fact you acquire. It's a habit you build.

In a single day, people took breaks from 19 countries: the US, India, France, Poland, Colombia, Kenya, South Africa, Hong Kong For something we built at home around a baby's nap schedule, that's still hard to believe.

The team: two people who sit ten hours a day, one baby who never sits still, and a plant that wilts while we work. Now tell us what's missing. Feedback, feature requests, things that annoy you: drop them here, we read everything :).

The hard part of building a product moved in 2026 and most makers are still pouring their energy into the part that got easy.

There's a specific kind of quiet that happens about three weeks after launch. The app works. The landing page is clean. You shipped the whole thing in a weekend because Cursor and Claude Code let one person out-build a small 2020 dev team. And then... nothing. A trickle of signups from your own timeline, and then the graph goes flat.

While building shared memory for teams, I spent a lot of time thinking about what AI should know. The more uncomfortable question was what should never enter the shared layer.

Private notes? Feedback about a teammate? A half-formed strategy?

We all know someone who just keeps building: One more feature, One more improvement, One more thing to fix before starting sales.

And to be fair, it s easy to fall into that loop. Building feels productive, and there s always something that could be better.

Think about how you work today. You use Claude for writing. ChatGPT for research. Cursor for code. Maybe Codex for longer tasks.

Each one learns something about you. Your preferences. Your projects. Your decisions. But none of them talk to each other.

So you end up repeating yourself. Re-explaining context. Correcting assumptions that one tool got right weeks ago in a different conversation.

It is like having five assistants who each only remember the conversations they were personally in. They are all smart individually, but collectively they are forgetful.

We currently use a mandatory 7-day trial during onboarding. You have to start it to enter, but you can cancel immediately and continue using the app for free. It gives us another bot-prevention layer and lets people experience the full app first.
What REALLY surprised me: of the people who didn t start the trial, around 80% tapped Cancel and Sign Out. They didn t just close the app.
So I turned that button into a tiny win-back + analytics flow. When someone wants to leave, I ask why: maybe they don t want to pay, don t want a trial, think it s too expensive, or don t understand why it s required.
Based on the answer, Votap shows a short explanation specific to that concern and gives them one more choice: give it a try or sign out anyway.
And every reason gets logged in analytics, so instead of guessing why people drop, I can see the actual pattern. Even if the win-back converts nobody, knowing why people leave is extremely valuable. What do you think about this approach? Let me know!

The one where Skim stops pretending that Microsoft owns exactly four domains on the entire internet.

New

• Work & school accounts are finally recognized. If your company lives on Exchange Online, Skim now asks your domain's MX records who really hosts the mail. Everything Microsoft runs answers on *.protection.outlook.com, so the sign-in button that actually works shows up on its own no more falling into the manual IMAP/SMTP form to guess hostnames that were never going to connect. (Yes, hotmail.de too. Sorry it took a whole minor version to notice Germany exists. )

• Behind a mail gateway? Proofpoint and Mimecast tenants don't advertise Microsoft in MX at all, so unknown domains now get one quiet "Work or school account?" line instead of a shrug. One line. We counted.

• The DNS probe goes through the machine's own resolver (DnsQuery_W) your domain never visits a third party, results are memoized, the whole thing is capped at 3 seconds, and if it fails the screen looks exactly like it did before.

A few hours into launch and Interactive Sessions is climbing faster than we hoped. Genuinely did not expect this, and it means a lot.

To everyone who has tried it, commented, or shared today, thank you. The response to the two modes idea, hands on when you want control, hands off when you do not, has been the most rewarding part. It is the thing we bet the launch on, and seeing it land with engineers is the best feedback we could ask for.

EQK utilises an on device engine that is constantly being refined to not only give accurate sounds but sounds that adapts to the users tastes/ears, listening habits and their headphones strengths and weaknesses. The engine utilises a structure very similar to weights to make these decisions and the weights are updated by apple intelligence in the background for user taste and preferences.
The star feature of the app however is the dynamic real time EQ, that tries to (and does so well by the positive feedback received till date) EQ songs on the go, applying varying adjustments each second of the song, and also saves a fully EQ'd songs profile to memory, so on your next run the real-time EQ experience is optimised to the engine's potential.

The app also supports a static EQ for those that prefer a linear and stable EQ experience along with over 2,900 Headphone correction profiles from AutoEQ.

The app also comes bundled with a built in hi-res player with lyrics support, support for most major entertainment apps including- Apple Music, Spotify, Netflix, Amazon prime, and any Safari tab you save as an app and can play audio.

We're considering open-sourcing part (or potentially most) of Murmell.

The business would still be around the cloud: managed infrastructure, persistent agents, collaboration, environments, etc.

But I'm curious whether having the underlying product open source would actually change your decision to use it.

I ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

For Second Brain, the answer was clear: the setup. Terminal. Git. Cloudflare configuration. People wanted to try it but the friction was too high.

The one where your second computer stops greeting you with a breathless "12 NEW MESSAGES!" about mail you finished reading at lunch.

• No more ghost notifications. Read your mail at work all day, come home, boot the other machine and Skim used to toast about every single message that arrived meanwhile, badge and all. It had the "already read" flag right there in its hands the whole time. It just... didn't look. Now it looks. Only mail the server still holds unread gets a toast.

• The tray badge tells the truth on startup. It used to paint yesterday's unread count the instant the icon appeared, then quietly correct itself minutes later after a full folder sweep. Now the badge waits for the first inbox sync and shows the real number no stale flash, no "wait, where did those 12 go?"

• Badge follows push, not the 5-minute poll. The IDLE-driven inbox sync the one that actually fires when mail lands never repainted the badge. Now it does, on success and on failure (offline still gets the cached count, just honestly).

Housekeeping

Pew measured the click collapsing from 15% to 8% when an AI summary appears. A separate read of 35,000 ChatGPT citations shows where the decision moved to and it's mostly places you don't own.

Start with the one number here that isn't someone's marketing. Pew Research put browsing software on 900 US adults and watched 68,879 real Google searches in March 2025. Not a survey about how search feels. Actual behaviour.

Cloud World Model now has a streaming MCP server. Paste the URL into Cursor, Windsurf, or Claude Desktop and simulate AWS/GCP/Azure/OCI/DigitalOcean architectures, inject chaos, run RL training - no install, no API key required to start.

ProblemHunt is a new experiment: instead of guessing what to build, get direct access to real problem interviews with your target audience.

Here's how it works:

1. We pick a specific target group e.g. "handymen in the US," "relocators to Europe," "insurance agents."

2. We run "problem interviews" with them 5-8 questions to uncover what's actually bothering them.

3. We package 50-100 of these interviews per target group into a single publication real answers, real pain points, no guesswork.

I launched a booking tool for day-rate freelancers this morning and got a comment I haven't stopped thinking about:

"The friction is never the calendar; it's locking scope and terms before anyone starts working."

Fair challenge. What I built assumes scope is settled by the time a contract goes out signing is the "we already agreed, now make it official" step, not the negotiation.

For those of you who do client work, is that true for you? Is scope usually settled before you'd want anything signed, or is it still moving right up to the signature? And if it's still moving what specifically? Price, deliverables, timeline, revision count?
