What's new in Aperture: three weeks of changes since launch

Since launching on 4 Oct, I've merged 55 changes. Here's what you can use now.

Safer Apply

- Every check run gets a verification id, a hash of the staged code, the base, the package.json scripts, the lockfile and the hook scripts. If anything changes before you press Apply, Apply waits and the checks run again.

- Sandbox runs that reach an unknown host or use a secret ask for your approval first.

- If a fix comes back red twice, you see both attempts side by side, and nothing gets applied.

A real TypeScript editor

- Type errors as you type, plus a Problems panel with "fix all"

- Hover, go to definition, find references and go to any symbol

- F2 rename, quick fixes, Organize Imports and a Refactor menu

- Rename or move files and folders, and the imports follow

- Project-wide search and replace

Smarter agent

- The agent can find symbols, rename, and move or delete files and folders

- A change that only works as a whole can only be applied as a whole

- The TypeScript tools also work with a model running on your own computer

Security and MCP

- A project's .mcp.json can't connect servers by itself, and tool calls that use URLs ask for confirmation first

- Saved keys get their own encryption key, and Settings shows what protects them

- Add to Cursor or VS Code in one click

Try it

- The replay demo works without an account:

- Code:

Next up is showing exactly which input changed when a check expires. If you try it, tell me what broke or confused you. Most of the list above came from comments like that.
