Reviewers mostly see Fina as a flexible, spreadsheet replacement that makes personal and mixed personal-business finances easier to track. They repeatedly praise the simple, intuitive UI, customizable dashboards and templates, helpful transaction categorization, and the ability to ask plain-language questions instead of digging through data. Several say it surfaces spending patterns clearly and reduces the stress of manual tracking. Weak spots are narrower: some early bugs, dependence on Plaid for data connections, requests for more import options and shared-finance features, and one founder noting that page-level quick actions could be better organized.
The multi profile setup is the reason I would try this over a plain accounting app. Keeping a side project and the main business apart without paying for two tools is exactly the mess I am in right now! My question is about the categorization: when it learns from how I tag a transaction, does it apply that only inside the profile I was working in, or can a rule from my business profile leak into the personal one? Getting that boundary wrong would be a bad surprise at tax time.
@neerajnathany Haha~ thanks for your comment and great question!
A categorization rule won't leak from profile to another profile, every profile is a independent container to have its own categories and rules, all tracking assets are managed per profile. However, you still have the flexibility to combine multiple profiles together for any possible reporting together.
Does the multi profile setup also work well for people managing a side project alongside a full time business?
@khaildnaseem thanks for the question, I think so!
You can setup one profile for the side project, and another profile for your full time business. Each profile is completely separate setup, but Fina still gives you flexibility to combine them together in reporting if you want.
Congrats Shawn, Xiao, and the Fina team on Fina Business. The $20/mo QuickBooks-lite angle plus multi-profile personal and business in one workspace is the part founders will actually try. When Stripe invoices and bank feeds land in the business profile, how do you stop a miscategorized personal card swipe from quietly polluting that profile's P&L before month-end close?
@genedai True. The multi-profile separates business from personal - personal card swipe won't go to business profile.
haha same here quickbooks is such a pain once it starts getting cluttered glad you caught this right when you needed it.
@margret_rhyme Awesome! Glad it fixes real problem for founders.
Custom categories are a lifesaver because every business tracks money differently and pre set defaults always fall short.
@jennifer_wheatley Fina categories template lib is a nice place to checkout some standard categories setup to start with https://app.fina.money/categories
Switching between business and personal accounts on the same dashboard without constantly signing back in saves so much daily friction.
@sansa_grey that's true!
