Hey! I'm not a native English speaker, so my writing isn't always perfect. At some point, my most-used prompt for AI became "rewrite this text, fix all mistakes, and make it sound natural." However, the process of opening a chat, asking for a rewrite, then copying and pasting back into Slack took too long. I wanted a quicker solution. So I created an app for myself that rewrites any selected text with a simple Control+R. It runs in the menu bar and offers a subscription option. Alternatively, you can use your personal API keys for your preferred AI provider and pay them directly, paying fraction of what other writing apps ask for.

I've been using this tool since its alpha soft launch. Even now, I'm rewriting this text with Scraib. It's really worth it.

@vovaflame Thanks for going through all the betas with me! I really appreciate your support.

What advantage does Scraibapp have over Grammarly, for example?
Btw, the examples on the demo are hilarious!

Vova Krasilnikov

@michael_vavilov at least 10x cheaper

Michael Vavilov

@vovaflame fair point!

Andrei Alikimovich

@michael_vavilov Hi! Grammarly is amazing product, but it didn't quite fit my workflow:

1. I'm not a native speaker, so I need a tool that can improve my writing overall, not just fix mistakes, or suggest three options of how to change it. I have no idea, they all sound the same to me. I just need something that will make me sound better without changing the intent and the ideas I'm trying to communicate.

2. Grammarly needs me to pay attention and think about every change it suggests. I need something that will just fix the text without me having to think about it.

3. And also, as @vovaflame said, it's just cheaper. I'm not trying to make it an all-in-one writing app; it's a tool that helps with one simple thing and should be priced accordingly. Grammarly charges $12/month if you pay annually, and $30 if monthly. Scraib costs $4/month (or around that based on Apple's pricing tiers) You could even unlock a feature for $10 once to use your own API keys for whatever AI you prefer, and then pay them directly.

Good luck, Andrei! I will try to rewrite my messages, especially when I am in an angry mood 😁!

Andrei Alikimovich

@juliayugo definitely try it! It always saves me at least :) . And thank you for your support!

seamless UX for writing on the go, my everyday tool

Andrei Alikimovich

@mi_mark thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you like it ❤️

Masum Parvej

What I love most is that it doesn’t try to be a full writing app.

Andrei Alikimovich

@masump yeah! exactly. I need text to be fixed, so that I can continue working on whatever I am working on at the moment. Without 'three options', suggestions, or additional actions.

Kate Prasniak

This is so good @alikimovich I'm constantly jumping between apps to rewrite stuff and it's annoying. Finally something that just works where I need it without all the hassle.

Ivan  Tolstov

TBH, I can’t imagine my life without this tool now. Convenient and simple!

Andrei Alikimovich

@ivan_tolstof thank you for being one of the first users and going through all the beta tests with me!

Chilarai M

Amazing! Does it work with all the apps on Mac?
This is really cool. Congrats on the launch!

Andrei Alikimovich

@chilarai hello and thank you! it actually does. Also it's important to say that it has access only to selected text that you actually want to rewrite, and nothing else.

Chilarai M

@alikimovich Awesome! Trying it now

Lucas Oliveira

Thats really cool , definitely has some synergy with @SourcePIlot . Great launch today!

Andrei Alikimovich

@lucas_oliveira10 thank you!
