How willing are you to try out a product launched on this platform across devices?
In about 17 days (I hope I’m counting correctly), I’ll be re-launching the mobile app, and now I’m wondering how much the Product Hunt community will try it out.
I spend 100% of my time on a desktop on this platform.
But the majority of the population is mobile-only.
Once I see a product only on mobile, my motivation to download the app is lower.
But I’m not a reference sample for the rest of Product Hunt.
How often do you test products found on this platform?
Desktop? Mobile?
On which device does your willingness to test decrease?

I'd consider it. The real question is how does your icp access it

@zolani_matebese Do you mean how they access it via Product Hunt? Or what do you mean now?
@busmark_w_nika i meant their current workflow, unless ph is your main icp demo?

@zolani_matebese No, PH is the page that will make our product more visible.
This is such a great point, @busmark_w_nika! I’ve been observing a similar pattern, and I feel like it’s heavily tied to generational habits. Those of us who grew up with desktops tend to feel more 'at home' testing new tools on a big screen. On the other hand, the mobile-first generation is much more likely to dive straight into an app. I don’t have deep research to back this up, but it’s a clear observation from my daily marketing practice.
That being said, if a product looks genuinely interesting and solves a real pain point, I’m more than willing to jump onto my mobile to give it a spin. The deal-breaker for me, though, is the paywall. I’m a big believer in testing the willingness to pay (it’s crucial for business) but it has to be done carefully. I need to see the core value and test enough of the features before being asked for a credit card. If you hit me with a payment screen too early, you can lose my curiosity.
Good luck with your re-launch! Looking forward to seeing how you balance this.

@tereza_hurtova Thank you! :) BTW, how do you browse products here? Desktop or Mobile? :)
@busmark_w_nika Desktop! I'm already 33 :D

@tereza_hurtova :DDD true, we are in 30 :D

I spend most of my time on a desktop, so mobile-only apps tend to get ignored unless I really need them. I wanna know how much the rest of the Product Hunt community feels the same. Maybe the mobile-first crowd will surprise us!

@abod_rehman I think that even tho we are mobile first as a society, this is a place of developers who have to develop on desktop.
Pretty willing if two things are true: the listing has a real demo (video or interactive), and the permissions/data handling are upfront. What kills it for me is vague "we collect usage data" language with no explanation. Be specific about what you're touching and I'll install it anywhere.

@antwon_randolph2 But in general – what device are you using the most?
For mobile-only products my threshold is mostly trust + friction: I’ll try them if the listing has a clear demo, exact permissions, and the Play Store link is easy to verify. Dev here — while building Kinetic Override as an Android-only utility, I found that a web page with screenshots + a short feature list helps desktop-first PH users decide before installing.
