This is how I spent money in 2025

Every year I reflect on how I spent money in the previous year. Previously, I have manually scraped my bank statements and put together a report, but 2025 was interesting because I built a fairly overkill personal finance product to make this report easy to generate for myself.

Because it is really easy, I m going to do a deep dive on how I spent money in 2025. (I was able to put this all together in ~10 mins)

I spent $50/Day on Reddit Ads for a finance app: 10-Day results and lessons

I'm building My Financ , which is a tool that allows you to understand your finances, and plan for the future.

I launched on PH in September, got some users and have been iterating.

Sandboxes? a fun place to play or a source of dust in your eyes?

I have been (slowly) building My Financ . I shipped some features over the past few months that felt interesting to share, so I build a sandbox that runs an almost-fully-featured version of the app (here) with dummy data. you can go in there, click around, and see what the feature set looks like:

is this confusing? on intuition i feel like people hate guided product 'tours' so have strayed away from this, but maybe it isn't clear the steps you would have to take as a user to actually get the app into this state?
any feedback welcome :) I realize that for a situation where you are linking your bank accounts to a website the polish and trust needs to meet a pretty high bar, so the main goal of this effort was to make it easier for a user to understand whats behind the onboarding.

Have you had success with guerrilla marketing?

I'm learning (slowly) about the importance of marketing your product. (I am probably one of todays 10,000 around guerrilla marketing)
So last night I hacked together https://purposefulpoop.com/ to see if it could drive some leads for my product.
I'm going to launch the playful tool next monday and use this thread to give a plot synopsis on how it all goes.

Prior to launch though, I'm curious if anyone has any feedback that might make the hook stronger?
I added (a poorly designed) OG image, so the shareable is at least somewhat tasteful:

What else am I missing?

[Change-log] [Request for beta testers] Adding 2FA, Plaid, and more

First off, I'm looking to get a cohort of beta testers for the next development cycle! No cost to use the product, just would be curious about your feedback. If you are in this cohort I would give you 6months free once I actually launch. Feel free to post up below and I can give you more info, or contact me.
I added 2FA! Pretty self-explanatory, but adding 2FA for added security.

I added a new accounts view. This is the precursor of the soon to come "account overview".

Pt 2: I have had success with guerrilla marketing?

I originally asked if guerrilla marketing works in another thread. Here are the results from my first experiment with this style of marketing!
On 3/31 I launched a quick and dirty (pun intended) tool:

With the hope that the CTA at the bottom of the page might drive some traffic to the personal finance tool i'm (constantly talking about) building.
So what happened?

TL;DR:
Nearly 2,000 people visited my meme
A little over 300 people clicked the CTA
A little over 20 people made accounts
Marketing like this feels useful! and I will continue to try things like this in the future!

The post-roast dessert -- tell us what you're proud of

There have been a few threads in the past week or so asking for roasts:
https://www.producthunt.com/p/se...
https://www.producthunt.com/p/ed...
https://www.producthunt.com/p/se...
https://www.producthunt.com/p/se...
Now, what are some things you've built or marketing ideas you've ran with that you are proud of?
Ya ya you grew your b2b compliance saas to 1m MRR, but what I really want to know is there a button on the page somewhere that you are super psyched about? did you go viral and see a thicc spike in your google search console traffic with some witty tweet?
I have no thicc traffic numbers to be jazzed about yet, but when working on My Financ I spent a ton of time making a recursive grouping function and table for transactions. it allows you to slice up your spending in tons of ways, (I made it extensible so I could in theory allow users to define their own custom grouping functions as well!)

The constraints you set here ^ are reflected in the table of the transactions you would see here:
