What do we need to prepare before launching on Product Hunt?

Our team is planning to launch a new version of our product on Product Hunt next week, after a period of optimization and improvements. As we get closer to launch day, I realize there’s a lot to prepare, and I’m curious about how other teams usually approach this process.

So far, here’s what we’ve been focusing on:

  • Most importantly, making sure the product works well and delivers real value

  • Continuous testing to ensure performance and stability

  • Designing clean and clear product screenshots

  • Preparing a summary of what’s been updated, fixed, or optimized

  • Writing launch content (tagline, description, first comment, etc.)

  • Maintaining good health and a stable mindset for the launch 😅

  • Expanding our network and connecting with other makers

I'd add having a short and engaging product demo available on your launch page - this is something we're working on now as we're also preparing to bring CoreSight to Product Hunt soon. I've heard it helps to also have this, as something extra besides the product screenshots.

One thing I’d add: test your first-time user experience end-to-end and be ready to reply fast on launch day — maker presence and quick answers make a huge difference.

Have you tried pre launch and have some uses support you though sign up waitlist? When you launch you can have them come over and secure good ranking on the day.

I would say most important part is your product. Cause even if you have the longest list of people who you can ask for help, it won't work until they feel your product matters

This is actually a very good question and I bet lots of people are asking themselves the same (me included). I find it odd that there is no such guide by PH (or maybe there is and i haven't found it?). So if such a thing exist, please point to us, otherwise I would encourage someone that has the knowledge and experience to write it - I am pretty sure it would gain lots of traction! EDIT: As I expected, indeed a guide exists and really extensive one I would say, you need to go to (+) Submit / Launch a product and a whole new world of studying opens up o.O!
