Leak - Just say it. Send an anonymous email.

@ldesserrey interesting concept. a couple q's: 1) what types of leaks are people sending? 2) how are you thinking about monetization?

@burtherman 1. The leaks are kept anonymous (no sender email address). 2. However, the leak + IP are stored for 6 months in case of reprehensible abuse by law (harassment, threats, pedophilia...)

@ldesserrey What safety mechanisms are in place for this app. A few of the examples on the homepage imo were a bit inappropriate. I get that it's supposed to be lighthearted and fun but it looks like it could foster a lot of negative and uncomfortable interactions for the recipient. I see that you can report negative/poor behaviors but can people opt out of Leak (ie. block Leak e-mails)? Also why did you choose not to have people create a login? I feel like that's a missed accountability buffer.

@rrhoover Hey Ryan, What a week! And it all started right here :) Seb and I didn't expect that people would be sending that much leaks over the week! It's actually a good issue. We totally understand the reaction of Mandrill and Sendgrid, that's why we're currently building a dedicated email server with specific features needed by our service. #moderation #deliverability #security #privacy #scalability Folks that want to contribute are welcome at team@justleak.it ✌

@EAWharton Sure thing Eddie! We thought about this. We actually see Leak as a way to solve any kind conflicts.

Thank you for your post @clarklab, seems that we've been a bit clumsy!! The truth is that my friend Seb and I got inspired by some of the best leaks exchanged so far. We decided to send them to people we like/journalists thinking that it was funnier to live the Leak experience than receiving a regular press release. FYI, Leak is just a 48hours-made project between 2 friends.

@ldesserrey awesome! No judgement on this end, it actually seemed like a pretty clever little hack. Any results worth sharing? Did it score any decent press?

@dbl Yes it totally is, we don’t have your email address nor identity. However, it is necessary for our system and the security of everyone to maintain a link between the leaks you create and your IP address. This IP address will never be communicated except in the very rare occasion of legal matters.

@ldesserrey The terms and conditions say otherwise. I always think it's a good idea for founders to actually read what their lawyers wrote (or that they copied from another service) to understand exactly what they're agreeing to.

@ldesserrey for example, you say you have the right "to publish your name in connection with your Submission" - obviously you don't have the name, but this suggests whoever wrote this didn't understand the service.

@arrington Thanks Michael. We wanted to ship Leak quickly to see if people would like this kind of service. Sounds like they do. That's why we're going to dig our terms :)

@kwdinc Hi Kevin! Yeah, obviously we thought about replying to a leak ;) But we don't know if the product is cooler with or without the 'Reply' feature yet. It's funny that you mentioned these because I actually contacted them just before starting developing Leak with Seb on last Friday. I should write a blog post about all of this :)

It's sure that people can send negative leaks, but that is really not what the product is about. It's more about solving conflicts and saying positive things you're ashamed to say :) And if it's getting negative you can block emails from Leak. @ldesserrey Thanks Laurent! I saw the Dos and Don'ts but missed the blocking feature. Fingers crossed people use Leak for good :)

@jsngr Actually this section is a selection we made from what our friends sent since we "launched" among our friends last week. It's not a feed. No worries your leak won't appear here. We have access to the leaks, but we don't know who send them, that's the point :)
