Do you think sales skills can be learned or is it something you’re just born with?

Hi Everyone!!
I’ve met people who could sell anything from day one. They just understand people. They know when to talk, when to listen and somehow they always say the right thing.
I’ve also worked with people who started out really quiet. No confidence, no experience, just a willingness to learn.
And over time they became some of the best salespeople I’ve met.
So it makes me wonder. Is sales something you’re born with or can anyone get good at it through practice and experience?

It's quite difficult. I know salespeople who can sell anything because they have strong persuasion skills. At the same time, I know others who sell well because they’re better at listening and making gentle suggestions - not being too pushy. I’d say it depends on what type of sales you need. Personally, I don’t like overly pushy behavior, so I prefer the second type of person.
@tetiana_hryshmanovska That’s a great perspective, Tetiana. I completely agree that it depends on the type of sales and the person’s style. Some people lead with persuasion, others with empathy. The best results usually come when those two balance each other.
