Hi, @johnjeong
It's an incredible product! Offline private notes, which is something I was looking for! Can I download other AI models? I wish you good luck today!
Hey team — the proposition looks quite promising. Curious — does on-device AI slow down the machine?
Hyprnote
@hkalra16Great question! To be honest, it can slow things down if you’re on an older computer, your meeting runs really long (over 2 hours), or you forget to stop recording and it keeps listening for many hours. Outside of those cases, though, it usually won’t cause a noticeable performance drop.
Congratulations on launching Hyprnote, John! The privacy-first approach is brilliant - there's definitely a huge gap in the market for compliant AI note-taking tools. I'm curious: what on-device models are you using for transcription and summarization, and how does the accuracy compare to cloud-based solutions? The open-source aspect is really compelling for enterprise adoption!
This seems so cool!

Congratulations @johnjeong on such a great launch!
Curious– Since the term "on-device" comes with a lot of cons in terms of performance, what do you have in mind to boost it?
Hyprnote
@johnjeong @sanskarix
For LLM - we trained smaller model(1.7B model, 1GB when quantized) and continuously improve it.
For STT - we use model optimized for each platform.
This is realtime-stt in MacBook Pro.

I have been using this for all of my meeting. It works really well and my data stays private. Love it!

Local transcription and data storage is a game changer - and it's packed up in a pretty product as well. Awesome job 👏

@glenntoews Thanks!
Very cool and needed! I think we are moving in a direction where more people will want AI locally on their machines without uploading their data to third parties. What are you using for your local database? Did you have to take local database encryption into account for this?
Hyprnote
@katrinarodriguez absolutely! we are using sqlite to store all notes/events/people information. We didn't apply direct encryption yet, but might consider doing something like that in the future. We also heard feedback from users who want their notes to be stored as markdown (like obsidian) instead of sqlite, so that also might be an interesting idea to explore!
@duckduckhero That is an interesting request to store notes as markdown. I guess it makes it easier to port over to code editors!
Hyprnote
@duckduckhero @katrinarodriguez a lot of our users have already been incorporating tools like obsidian into their workflows, so having notes saved as MD seems to make more sense to them!
