Goldfish - Press Option. It knows your work and replies like you
by•
Most AI tools make you explain the context before they can help. Goldfish already has it. It privately remembers what you’ve been working on across your Mac, then helps you write better from any app. Press Option in a text field to draft replies, summarize threads, rewrite sentences, or recall important details from your recent work without copying, pasting, or re-explaining the whole backstory.

The Option-key workflow feels smart because it keeps AI inside the place you’re already writing. Curious how Goldfish decides which recent context should matter and which old context should fade out.

@farrukh_butt1 Very good question! We keep a buffer of the most recent-recent context which gets embedded with each option-click, but when it makes sense Goldfish can also search way back into the long term memory, but often the most recent memory is enough.
Have you tried it yet? What do you think? :)
@farrukh_butt1 butt1 thanks Farrukh! The short version is: current surface wins, recent context is weighted heavily, and older memory only comes in when it’s clearly relevant. We’re trying hard to make it feel predictable, not like a random search through everything you’ve ever seen 🐠 But it's pretty good at recalling exact quotes form several weeks ago!
I’ve been using Goldfish daily for a month: it’s one of those tools you don’t realize you needed until you can’t imagine working without it. No more copy-pasting Slack threads into a chatbot just to get context. Press Option and it already knows what’s going on.
The tone adaptation is the killer feature for me. Writes like me on Slack, like me on email, without any setup. And everything stays local, which matters.
Congrats on the launch team 🐠

@faustin_havard thank you faustin, this means a lot coming from you! 🐠
Congratulations on the launch, team! I’m curious: are you using Goldfish to help draft your replies to all these comments today?
Goldfish
@bibin765 haha yes, very much so. this is basically the perfect stress test for it 🐠
sometime I edit stuff and press option again, but mostly goldfish can one shot most!
have you tried it yet?
@kar_re yes, trying it now. feels really useful so far, especially for quick replies like this where context matters.
Yes this was from Goldfish, not me
Goldfish
@bibin765 lets gooo! :-D
@bibin765 it is super helpful! Can't imagine a lofe without goldfish option click anymore honestly. The one who tried it they know!

Big fan of Goldfish. My least favorite thing about tools that 'do things like you' is having to manually dump context into it, or connecting specific data sources. My context is all over the place.
Q: are you guys thinking about opening up api access? Seeing some integration possibility that I'd kinda love to chat about.
Goldfish
@dawid_baranowski yes, definitely. API access is one of the things we’re thinking through, we've seen some interest from other companies as well!
Would love to chat - ping me on kaspian [at] goldfish.sh! :-D
Been using Goldfish now and it already feels very natural. The biggest win is not having to copy/paste context between apps or explain what I’m working on before getting a useful draft.
The local memory + Option-key flow is the part that makes it actually fit into daily work. Another amazing part is that it actually picked up my type of writing almost directly.
Congrats on the launch, really impressive work!
Goldfish
@mhogfeldt thank you!! the writing style part makes me extra happy to hear, because that’s the part that’s hardest to fake and easiest to feel when it’s wrong 🐠
Do you have any specific usecases you use goldfish for?
@mhogfeldt thank you Mattias, really appreciate it. wild how much of “AI at work” is just removing the copy/paste tax and letting the right context follow you 🐠
Trice
@joel_edholm , This is really cool. How to claim this "everyone from Product Hunt gets 3 months of free access!!"?
Goldfish
@surenganne Hey Surendra! It's active by default when you register today, so just make sure to test goldfish today and you will get the free access! 🐠 Have you tested it yet?
@surenganne Just sign up, it will be automatically applied! Go loco and let us know your feedback

The Option key trigger is such a clean wedge. If the reply feels native instead of botty, this could get dangerous fast.
Goldfish
thanks @sarveshsea , that's the exact line we're trying to hit, native first, AI second 🐠
have you tried it? What do you think? :- D
@sarveshsea yes, exactly. native is the whole bar here. And the wedge only works if it feels like it truly gets your tone of voice. We've worked hard on this and hope it's working. Let us know what you think! 🐠
crashed my m5 pro laptop today 😭
Goldfish
@parthivvv nooo way man! I daily drive a m5 pro :- o! what happened? goldfish too powerful 🐠
@kar_re i setup the acc and then my screen froze, i check activity monitor and it was taking 100% of the cpu util lol
Goldfish
@parthivvv Very strange! Lets continue the debugging on Slack! 🙏
@parthivvv Did this get solved? Sounds very strange, we've never had this issue before.
This is so good! Surprisingly works for pretty much any task you could think of, have been using it for the past 3 weeks
Goldfish
@samuel_barnholdt1 So happy to hear that Samuel! :- D
What has been your best use case so far?
Andsend
Congrats on the launch! I've tried the beta and really like the UI and ambition. I'm curious: what's your own/the team's favorite use cases in everyday work?
Goldfish
@per_clingweld Thank you Per for being an early supporter and for the comment! Mostly messaging for me, but I also use it to find old tweets. Weirdly, when I can’t remember a song, I sometimes use transcription in Spotify to see if it can match it. Works 50% of the time haha
@per_clingweld thanks Per! my personal favorites are the tiny daily ones: replying to LinkedIn/Slack/email without re-explaining the context, turning a messy text draft into ready text in my tone, and quickly remembering “where did I see that thing again?” while working. Those are the moments where Goldfish feels most useful 🐠
