Goldfish - Press Option. It knows your work and replies like you

by
Most AI tools make you explain the context before they can help. Goldfish already has it. It privately remembers what you’ve been working on across your Mac, then helps you write better from any app. Press Option in a text field to draft replies, summarize threads, rewrite sentences, or recall important details from your recent work without copying, pasting, or re-explaining the whole backstory.

the 'replies like you' part is what i'm most curious about. how do you handle voice consistency across contexts where someone writes very differently (boss vs partner vs friend)? is the model learning per recipient or one general voice trained on all past replies?

love this question. it’s per-context, not one blob of “your voice” averaged over everything.

Goldfish looks at the surface you’re writing in, the current thread, who you’re talking to, and your past examples that are relevant to that kind of interaction. So a Slack reply to a teammate, a LinkedIn DM, and an email to a customer can all come out differently.

We’re trying pretty hard to avoid the uncanny “same tone everywhere” thing. It should feel like you, in that specific situation.

great question. it’s not one general voice trained on everything. Goldfish treats voice as context-specific: who you’re replying to, where you’re writing, and how you’ve written in similar situations matter more than some average “you”. So boss vs partner vs friend should come out differently, because the relationship and surface are part of the prompt 🐠

Congrats on the launch! 🐠

Goldfish has the best onboarding experience I’ve ever had. Genuinely blew my mind.

Also, yes, this comment was written using Goldfish ✨

this is the most meta comment we could’ve hoped for haha. thank you for trying it, and very glad Goldfish wrote this one well 🐠

thank you, this made my day. also very fitting that the comment wrote itself 🐠

Hey Ben, Goldfish looks like a genuinely clever take on ambient AI. How does it handle context switches between work projects or clients that have very different tones?

Thanks Marco! It uses the focused field and nearby context as the anchor first, then pulls in only the relevant recent memory for that surface. So a client email, a dev task, and a Slack reply each get treated as separate writing situations, with different tone and context.

Have you tried it? What do you think? 🐠

yeah, exactly. we try to keep it anchored to the current app/thread first, then only pull in broader memory when it actually helps. curious what use cases have been working best for you so far? 🐠

Loving this! The onboarding was super smooth, your video walk through demo was really slick. I like that it just reads what is on my screen and knows the context of what I'm doing in order to make the auto-typed replies extremely relevant. I also like your commitment to privacy, keeping data local as possible, and not retaining data sent to gpt. Great work! I'm excited to see where this goes.

p.s. Making LinkedIn part of your onboarding demo so it could scrape info about me from my profile to train on initially... I saw what you did there ;-)

thanks Chad, really appreciate it! Glad the onboarding and demo landed.

And haha yes, LinkedIn was very intentional there. The value is most apparent there, I hope you find more usable surfaces also! :- D

n thank you Chad! the privacy piece matters a lot to us because Goldfish gets useful exactly where normal tools get creepy if they are not designed carefully. and haha, guilty on the LinkedIn onboarding, had to make the demo do some real work 🐠

Huge congrats on the launch. Goldfish feels like one of those products that’s obvious the second you use it, especially not having to paste context into a chat box every time. The privacy/local memory angle is also exactly what makes this feel usable for real work.

Also, I used goldfish to write this, but that's right, these are my sentiments.

thanks Paul, really appreciate it! and yes, using Goldfish to write a Product Hunt comment about Goldfish is very meta :)

haha love that you used Goldfish for this. really appreciate it, and glad the local memory/privacy bit makes it feel usable for real work 🐠

I really like this and have been impressed by how quickly it has picked up context that's genuinely relevant and useful. It's a bit spooky sometimes, to be honest. But hey, it's useful.

One issue I have is that it won't recognise my email client, Kiwi for Gmail, which is a Mac app. Whenever I try to use it for writing or replying to an email there, the system just keeps repeating "Click into a text field first, then press Option" each time I press the button.

It's great in Slack, Claude, Discord and web forms, and it also works in Gmail in the browser. I just can't get it to fire in the Kiwi app, which is odd as I thought it was effectively just a wrapper for Gmail. At any rate I really like it so far. If anyone know why it won't play nice with Kiwi let me know!

Hi Kristian! I will check out Kiwi and see if we can get Goldfish to work with it! :)

Best,

Kaspian

thanks Kristian, really appreciate you flagging this. Kiwi is fixed now! glad it’s working well in Slack, Claude, Discord and browser Gmail too 🐠

Goldfish has made the biggest difference in my day-to-day work, and now I can’t picture my life without it - and it still feels like I’m only scratching the surface of its potential. I’m super excited to keep using it! Context for the win🫶

Thank you for the kind words, Ella! Always so nice to hear that people are finding it as useful as I do!

What is your favorite use case so far? 🐠

definitely LinkedIn and email I save so much time using goldfish there 🥹

ah yes, instant Goldfish value add 🐠

thank you so much ❤️

What’s been the moment where Goldfish has made the biggest difference for you so far?

all inboxes! Google, LinkedIn etc! But also tonality/copy for brand work🧡

tbh now I cannot even imagine my day to day workflow without Goldfish! I'm a big fan of the Option button

Thanks Roy, love to hear that. Option button is king 🐠

Huge congrats on the launch, team 🐠

Downloaded it yesterday and it's so easy to use, already saved me a lot of time on Slack messages!!

Let's go!!

thanks Andreas, Slack messages saving time is exactly the use case we hoped would click first 🐠
What would you want us to build or improve next?

Thank you so much Andreas! I really appreciate it!

Slack is good usecase 🙏

It's a smart goldfish that you can talk to and prompt to write messages for you.

yes indeed! no goldfish memory here!

Have you tried it? :- D

ros haha yes, exactly. the smart part is that it knows the context before you prompt it 🐠 thanks for supporting!
