How do freelance marketers price their services?

There has always been a framework for pricing that considers:
Costs
Competitor pricing
Typical price ranges in the country
What the client or company can afford to pay (meaning their business size)
Your personal brand and authority

The more people ask for my services and want to claim my time, the higher I need to set my price (not surprisingly, I then often get ghosted).

My tool reached $300 MRR! Here's how I did it (no audience, no ads)

$300 MRR is actually surprisingly hard to reach if you don't have an existing distribution built. It took me 6 (quite difficult) months to get here.

Here's how I did it:

Attending meetups and conferences – does it help with sales?

I ve attended a few conferences and meetups over the past two years always for a different purpose. Sometimes it was just 1. to socialise , other times 2. to interview guests, 3. find PR or 4. sell products. I have to say that the last item on this list was the least fulfilling we recruited a few trial users, but there were minimal paying customers. How do you approach similar events? What positive results have you seen from it? [If you have any recommendations for meetups or conferences where people are more open to buying a product, I d be grateful if you could share them.]

Which newsletter service do you use? (The best UX/UI + monetisation aspects)

When I started my newsletter 2 years ago, I used Mailchimp I was familiar with it from previous projects because it offered fairly extensive analytics and testing. The problem was that the articles weren t public. Mailchimp is more suitable for business newsletters like sales offers, etc.

Monetization:

When I wanted to take the next step and monetise, I looked into Beehiiv. At that time, however, I wasn t in the mood to pay the costs without yet earning any revenue in my opinion, Beehiiv has the best monetisation model (subscriptions, ad revenue sharing, sponsorships, etc.). Considering costs...

Which stream will prevail: Pro AI or Anti AI?

Today, I read 2 messages that are contradictory in nature, and it seems like one branch is rebelling against the other.

  • Meta and other big tech companies are replacing human workers with AI.

  • Heineken, Aerie, Polaroid, and even Cadbury are riding the anti-AI wave, mocking Big Tech and positioning human-made creativity as the ultimate authenticity flex.

How do you think that these pro and anti streams can affect the evolution of AI and our perception of its use?

Is Claude/ChatGPT/Gemini hijacking the Product Hunt experience?

lately I open product hunt and the top 3 spots are just another feature drop from one of the big three, every single day :/
a small maker trying to get real feedback and traction doesn t stand a chance when they re going up against a billion-dollar company s changelog update.
don t get me wrong, these companies ship incredibly fast and usually groundbreaking stuff. We all know it, and honestly, it s fun to watch. (I upvote a lot of them myself too)
but to me, PH used to be about finding products I would never find otherwise. Chatting with makers, getting feedback on my own stuff. That was the whole point.
for the big three and other giants, we re all going to see it anyway. Every reel, every thread, every newsletter will cover it as soon as it's launched, whether or not it s featured on Product Hunt.
I am really curious about what you all do for these 2 things now
- how are you all still finding good indie stuff on here?
- and if you ve launched recently or are thinking about it: is it actually worth it anymore, or has it become a vanity checkbox?
feels like Product Hunt needs a separate board for corporate launches vs. new indie products. Or am I wrong?

Will teachers' jobs disappear because of AI?

A few days ago, I listened to a Czech video cast where the idea was that in a few years, the teaching position will lose its relevance.

This seems like a quite realistic prognosis to me, because:

  • The teaching position is not particularly valued,

  • AI knows more information than a teacher,

  • AI does not sharply confront the user, which encourages people to ask questions and think critically (this can sometimes not be said about the school system)

  • More and more young people prefer to communicate with Chatgpt than with an "educational authority"
