Time to boast your keyboard shortcuts knowledge ⌨

Knowing keyboard shortcuts is literally a super-power. I have been trying to avoid the mousepad and use shortcuts wherever possible. For the last few days, I've got habitual to ( + + / ) for shuffling through Brave tabs. It's super convenient! Share your favourite keyboard shortcut or a productivity hack shortcut that very few people know

At what point did "I should hire someone for this" turn from a thought into an actual hire?

I have caught myself thinking I should hire someone to handle the parts I keep dropping, then talking myself out of it because the business is not big enough yet, or I cannot describe the role cleanly enough to post it. I noticed the thought shows up on the exact days something already slipped, a follow up, a number that was off, never on the calm days. Across a software company, a care home, and a cafe, I have had that thought probably fifty times and only acted on it twice. Curious what actually moved you from thinking about the hire to making it, was it a specific moment, or did the cost of not hiring finally add up somewhere you could see it?

The best way to solve a difficult problem may be to stop solving it as yourself

Most of us approach every situation with the same identity.

We try to build a product, make a difficult decision, sell an idea, handle criticism, lead a team, or solve a creative problem as the same person.

But the version of you that is good at analyzing risks may be terrible at generating bold ideas.

The version of you that wants everyone to approve of you may struggle to negotiate.

One in three of my posts reported success and never appeared

I have been automating parts of my posting workflow, and last week about one in three attempts told me it had worked when nothing was published.

The click returned cleanly. The status said done. The post was not on the page, and the draft was gone the moment I navigated away. Nothing errored, so there was no signal to catch. The failure looked exactly like success right up until I went and read the rendered page myself.

What ate the most time building your marketplace?

Across the last few home-services marketplace builds I've been part of (cleaning, repairs, salon-at-home type booking flows), the same three things kept eating more time than expected, in this order:

  1. Provider trust/verification document checks, ratings, and dispute handling needed to be right from day one. Bolting it on after a few bad-actor incidents was way more expensive than building it in up front.

  2. Payment splits and payout timing getting the wallet logic right between customer and provider (holds, refunds, payout schedule) caused more support tickets early on than any missing feature did.

  3. Scheduling conflicts double-bookings and no-shows quietly killed early retention more than discovery or search ever did.

What surprised me is that none of these three were the thing founders originally worried about most going in most people spend their early planning time on discovery/search UX, and the actual pain shows up somewhere else entirely once real bookings start happening.

Curious if others building in this space saw the same pattern, or if something else entirely turned out to be the real bottleneck for you onboarding the supply side, pricing/commission structure, something else?

What’s one slide you never skip in a pitch deck?

I ve been reworking my pitch deck framework lately and noticed something:

The most effective decks I ve seen don t try to impress they aim to clarify.

That one insight changed how I build:

  • Less storytelling, more signal

  • Less fluff, more structure

  • Less "how it works," more "why it matters"

  • Numbers that justify

From [Previous Industry] to Tech Founder: What’s the hardest part of your pivot?

Many of us enter tech with years of experience in another field, bringing valuable skills to the pivot. But that transition is rarely smooth or easy. Speaking to other founders who have made a tech pivot has been tremendously valuable.

I come from the entertainment and dating space, mostly working B2C as a service provider. The shift to a B2B SaaS start-up meant changing my approach to business development and adapting my marketing know-how to a very different audience and new clientele (brands/employers). The hardest part is realizing that some of my skills aren t transferable 1:1, so I have to adapt my B2C go-to strategies for B2B. It s a different animal.

For example, in B2C, articulating the problem and helping your customer see themselves in your solution requires a different skill. It s about meeting your customer emotionally and connecting with their desired outcome, which is very different from B2B. With B2B, you re building longer-term relationships and discussing ROI. It s less emotional and more about efficiency. The pain points are different, but in many respects the conversation is the same. I can help you, and here s how.

What learnings, challenges, or obstacles have you had to overcome to succeed in tech? What advice do you have for newcomers launching a product or service in this space?
