What would make you try a product from a solo founder?

I've been thinking about this while getting closer to launching my own product.

There are so many new products launching every day that simply saying I built this doesn't really give someone a reason to try it.

So when you discover a product built by a solo founder or a very small team then what actually makes you stop scrolling and to look what they really built?

Is it the problem they're solving, demo, story behind the product, social proof, recommendations from others or something else?

Anyone else quietly checking other makers' revenue screenshots and feeling behind?

Scrolled past another "$10k MRR in 3 months" post today and caught myself doing the thing I always do, opening my own dashboard right after just to compare, even though I already knew the number and knew comparing wouldn't change anything about my day.

My product's been live for four months. Small but steady group of users, a few of them genuinely rely on it, and I used to feel good about that until these posts started showing up in my feed constantly. Now every milestone I hit feels smaller the second I see someone else's bigger one, even when logically I know we started at different times, with different amounts of runway, different audiences, sometimes different definitions of what counts as revenue in the first place.

I know the screenshots are a highlight reel and not the full picture. Doesn't stop the comparison from happening automatically before I can catch it.

Does this fade the longer you build, or does it just get replaced by a new person to compare yourself to every time? And if you've found something that actually helps, not just "don't compare yourself to others" as advice, but something you actually do when it happens, Or does it motivate you more? I'd genuinely like to hear it.

Been away for a while, but honestly, have things changed?

Hey everyone,

Historically I founded @Nack AI, And it did quite well. But we eventually packed it up. So, I've been away from product hunt for 3 years since.

What's one productivity hack that you want to gatekeep?

I'll start, I can't believe I didn't know this -

A friend taught me earlier today regarding the "plus trick", also known as "plus addressing", for Gmail addresses.

You simply type in + after the prefix of your email address along with any text, and any email sent to this will still arrive in your inbox.

How do you like the new face of Kitty Coin?

Hi everyone!

A few days ago I spotted @rohanrecommends sharing PH s brand new Kitty Coin leaderboard. This is definitely one of the biggest changes on PH recently.

Now it s baked right into every profile homepage:

What's your experience with companies providing benefits for freelancers?

I'm researching a topic of benefits for freelancers and self-employed, like the ones that people usually have in big companies (sick pay, family leave, insurance, etc). Would love your opinion on how fellow makers are dealing with this and whether there're any solutions that you use. Thank you!

The Rise of the Invisible App: Magic or Mess?

With this whole AI trend, many tools are trying to be invisible: not apps you open, but helpers that quietly run in the background. They show up just enough interface: a chat box, a nudge, or an API call to deliver value, but otherwise stay out of sight.

With today s agent hype, this idea feels like it s accelerating. Agents promise to handle tasks across your apps without you lifting a finger.

How many new products do you try and how many stick?

I've recently been recommended various new tools like Warp (terminal) and Zed (IDE). They are both quite intriguing, as I expect both could help speed up my development workflow. However, actually switching to them seems to be a huge lift.
I've downloaded and explored the two apps, but the thought of figuring out which current habits can be replicated vs. which ones I should completely relearn with the new app's tools is quite daunting. As a result, I haven't re-opened them...
I think the ProductHunt community would lean on the side of more experimental and motivated to try new things. How many new products do you try? How many end up sticking? Do you also feel the obstacles I've mentioned above and what ends up pushing you over that activation energy?
