If you could invite any person to an AMA on Product Hunt (founder or entrepreneur), who would it be?

I remember there was a time when the Product Hunt team had a subcategory called AMA, which felt a bit more exclusive.

A special guest would show up with a post like “I’m X, founder of X, AMA,” and those sessions were actually quite successful in my eyes.

We had guests like:

If this series were brought back, which big-name founder or entrepreneur would you most want to see here and ask questions to?

What would you ask them as the 1st question?

Oh wow, Nika, that’s a great topic!

There are so many people I’d love to ask questions about Product Hunt that I could probably name at least 50. It’s kind of like asking, “Who from the football world would you most like to meet and talk to?” There are just so many great answers that it’s hard to pick only one.

It’s the same here. For example, I’d love to ask:

  • @chrismessina what the number one thing is that catches his attention when deciding whether to hunt a product.

  • You, @busmark_w_nika , how you always manage to come up with such interesting topics and conversations.

  • @benln how he manages to build such incredible communities around the products he’s involved with, like Notion and Cursor.

  • @gabe how he evaluates whether a product meets the criteria to be featured, and what stands out to him the most when reviewing submissions.

And honestly, there are at least 50 more people on the platform I’d love to talk to. Every single one of them has something valuable to teach, and many have incredible stories behind their journeys.

There are some truly brilliant minds in this community, and one of the best things about it is getting the chance to connect with such inspiring people.

@chrismessina  @benln  @gabe  @byalexai Thank you, Alex! I love how active you are in this community. And I can surely answer that one – I am on my travels now, but preparing a kind of 11 questions and while watching some forums, there were AMAs. So it came to my mind to open that topic :D

@busmark_w_nika  @gabe i know, but we need 2026 edition xD

Nika

@gabe  @byalexai We probably need some renewal, that's for sure.

Dani Mashael
Sam Altman. Not about OpenAI’s roadmap — everyone asks that. I’d ask: at what point did you stop thinking about what users want and start thinking about what they’ll need before they know they need it? That shift from demand to anticipation is where the real product decisions live.
Nika

@dani_mashael I think that this sort of question could be good also for Steve Jobs :)

Robin Peter Müller
@busmark_w_nika Tobi Lütke. Easy. Not the Shopify origin story, that one’s been told to death. I’d want to get into how he thinks about the moment a company stops being a product and becomes infrastructure. That transition breaks most founders because they’re still solving today’s problem when they should be designing the system that makes tomorrow’s problems irrelevant. First question: when did you realise you were no longer building a product and start building the operating system everything else runs on?
Nika

@robincostmyai This is good one and I think that the answer would be very complex – the whole story :)

Stan Kolotinskiy

In my case it'd probably be Gabe Newell - and my first question would be "how are you still motivated to do such a great job for the worldwide gaming community after so many years?"

Nika

@sk_uxpin To be honest, I do not know him, but gonna google him :D

Stan Kolotinskiy

@busmark_w_nika haha, probably not a particularly interesting person to you - he's the CEO of Valve, the company behind Counter-Strike, Half-Life, the Steam game store and a bunch of other amazing things :D

I’m a little biased but @biilmann would be an epic addition to the lineup
Nika

@biilmann  @thisiskp_ We should renew AMAs immediately!

Ricardo Cuba

what is AMA?

Nika

@ricardo_cuba_alvan Ask me anything series :)

I think I'd like an AMA with Nik Storonsky from Revolut. I'd can ask questions about how to continually turn out features fast, and how quickly he knows a feature isn't going to work and decides to roll it back.
