How do busy founders “reset” during weekends, holidays, or vacations?

So far, the impression I have of this community and maker circles is that you work every day.

Which is great, it’s one of the reasons I’m here.

But sometimes your body and mind need a break.

How do you relax as a busy founder? What’s your reset?

For me, it’s travelling, because I don’t even have time to deal with work. [And I do not mean being on a beach for several days, because I would get bored and anxious]

Other than that, reading books, exercising, hiking, taking long walks, visiting family, or just lying around and staring blankly for a while.

Like all others in pursuit of wielding the powers of AI, I simply do not sleep. Haha!! Okay, I sleep, but I work every day because I love what I'm doing. I have an undergraduate degree from an art school, a Master of Science, and an MBA. I've never had the ability to create and market my own product end-to-end until now. I don't want to waste a second of time on anything else!

But I do relax; I have a morning ritual that is extremely important to me. It includes yoga and meditation. That's my relaxation, and it's perfect.

Reminder: My project RFP Copilot launches Tuesday, June 16th. Follow me for more info.

I found the best reset is to get out into nature, be near or on the ocean. It maybe sounds a bit pretentious but I really appreciate just being near water. The archipelago in Sweden is really something, especially in the summer.

Nika

@kim_lindberg_adable Which is your favourite destination near by the sea? :)

Kim Lindberg

@busmark_w_nika right outside my home town on the east coast of sweden!

Nika

@kim_lindberg_adable I was only in Malmo, but it was a great experience!

@busmark_w_nika Sweden is really a wounderful country, even if I would suggest that Malmö is not one of our nicest cities. You should visit us again!

Leave the house with no devices, including your smart watch. Lay on a grass field. Look at the stars. Thank nature as well as the higher forces that you are disconnected and peaceful.

Nika

@ajinsunny That is the only way I would approach it :) No digital screens :)

Spend an hour playing music.

Nika

@zanc_zhao What instrument do you play? :)

I'm obsessed with business, finance, and building. So it's hard to take a break. But when that time does come, it means spending time OUTside. Sun, exercise, walks, sports. It helps keep the mind off productivity and on enjoyment.

@blakeatvassant Volatility in the market is pretty stressful. It reminded me of this MEME:

Anton Rutkovskyi

This reminds me of a conversation:

- How do you relax?
- I do not stress out to begin with"

Weekends are great and all. They can only do so much. Weekends really can give you a boost of energy. However if you do not have something to help you on weekdays you will likely struggle to get through the workweek with two day offs. You need something to help you on the days too. This is why I think it is so important to have a routine. My own involves yoga and meditation. I also like to go for walks. Cooking - daily if possible. These are the things that help me.

Travel, and a strict no-laptop rule.

I've learned the hard way that half-resting isn't resting. You're either off or you're not.

I'm not sure if it's the right way to go.
But if I have space to take a vacation, I prefer no responsibilities, no thinking, no crippling anxiety about something pending or something needing my attention.

A completely blank mind somewhere up in the clouds, raining, or right next to a stream, a freshwater lake, pine trees, and animals.
I hardly sleep, fomo on the weather, and the perfect environment.
Just existing!

100% exercise for me - I run to and from work now and it's a perfect reset each day I do it. And the more intense the less my mind can stress about work!
