Yeah, but with one big difference: pseudonymity. A key aspect of the OASIS was that people could be anyone they wanted to be in VR. Facebook is intent on you staying "you." How else will they monetize you?
Facebook Spaces is a much friendlier interpretation of The Matrix than the movie.

Looks great and I'm excited to use a variation of this in the future but I can't see people using this in its current form #FacebookSpaces
Nice one, but those avatars look awful. 3D avatars aren't really a new thing - Sims and 1st person games in general, online chats like Second Life and IMVU all have them and they make these look really bad. Not sure if the lack of quality is caused by restraints of current VR gear?
