Hi Product Hunt! Quick backstory: a little bit over a year ago, we launched the first version of Canvas. We were makers at a few high-growth startups, and one of the most common things we'd seen users do was "export to CSV" and pivot data in Excel. We thought there must be a better way, so we built a spreadsheet that connects to live data and translates everything you do into SQL. We got amazing feedback from our early customers and iterated on it heavily, but it was clear there were still major problems: 1. Not everyone has a database or data warehouse to connect to. 2. Data lives in multiple apps and databases and stitching it all together is a huge pain. 3. Even after all the stitching, raw data really sucks to work with. So we went back to the drawing board and tried to imagine – how would we design this from scratch if we had a magic wand? Enter Canvas 2.0! This is awesome - who are ideal customers?
Looking interesting, looking forward to try it. We don’t have any datapoints and we do use our own tool so does it allow my to calculate MRR and other data points ?

Are you tracking this manually currently? How do you collect subscriptions? If it's something like Stripe or Paypal you could connect to that. If you're tracking things manually you can also dump your spreadsheet to CSV and upload that to Canvas.
right now we are doing via XLS so that will be great. let me take look tool and get back to you if need any help in that

Cool, in Excel you can hit "Save as", then pick "CSV (Comma Separated Values)", and upload that in Canvas. And when you need to refresh the charts, just upload a new CSV to replace the old one.
Hey! Congratulations on the launch! I didn't understand if it is analytics system or it is instrument for creating dashboards using the data from analytics systems?

Thanks! It's both, actually. It's analytics you can set up yourself, and then create dashboards on top, without having to patch together multiple different systems.

Hello! Can I use it to replace Google Analytics?

We don't directly replace Google Analytics, but we connect to GA – so if you are looking at using an alternative (e.g. Segment), you can use Canvas to combine data from both old GA data and your new event stream. This way you don't use your historical data!
Wow, sounds amazing! 🤩 I love how you've thought about the pain points of stitching data together from different sources. Templates for common startup use cases are also a great addition. How does your team handle security and privacy concerns when connecting to sensitive data sources?

Thanks! If you use Canvas to centralize your data, behind the scenes, we use best-in-class data warehouses that handle Fortune 500 customers. We don't permanently store any customer data on our own servers, only ephemerally what's necessary to view a dashboard or a table you're looking at – for a short period of time. Any metadata on our own servers (such as your user name) we encrypt at rest. We also follow the principle of least access religiously. A bit more info on our security practices:
