@ernstmul I'm guessing this will eventually lead to their own bot protocol, similar to what Facebook has introduced for Messenger. Why go third-party if you can go straight through a native app?
@miketempleton Yes exactly! It would be a great addition to the chatbot world since imo Messenger is terrible, and Telegram isn't widely spread. So would be cheering for iMessage bot support!
Did not expect this kind of product from Apple. Curious what the thinking was...

Hmmm iMessage coming to Android I think, it only makes money sense to do so with this business app.

Finally happy to see some innovation happening to Messages. Slowly but surely. And if they can integrate with Apple Pay and figure out to do site integrations, this could be significant for any size business.

@etav3 Possibly on the provider side of things, but that hasn't slowed Apple down before. Consumers aren't choosing which message platform they want to use – all of the choice is on the business side of things as they have to decide which technology to integrate with to make communicating with customers easier.
The demo use cases are still no more compelling than the original facebook ones. They seem half-baked still. User initiating chat with specific purchase intent and gets response with a product. More friction no?
